Like I Needed cover

Blurb

One night isn’t supposed to lead to love.

Jamie Stone is rich, beautiful, and bored out of his skull. The past few years have been an endless round of parties, and the decadence has lost its lustre. When a late night decision to get away lands him in the small seaside town of Heather Bay, Jamie’s convinced he’s made a mistake.

Heather Bay is no Ibiza, but it does have Will.

Will is stressed, stretched, and doesn’t have time for anything but work. He’s too busy trying to keep his head above water to focus on the London party boy who keeps ending up in his bed. Jamie is nothing but a distraction, but Will can’t resist coming back for more, especially with the harsh realities of farming nipping at his heels.

With the clock ticking on Jamie’s stay and the chaos of lambing season fast approaching, both men will have to look beyond themselves and let go of their fears. If they can, they might find the one thing they’ve always needed.

Like I Needed is a steamy and sweet hook-ups to lovers contemporary MM romance featuring a city boy with a hedonistic reputation, a gruff farmer in need of a break, endless amounts of snow, friends with no boundaries, terrible scrambled eggs, and the breath-taking beauty of the Yorkshire moors.

It is book three in the Heather Bay series and while it can be read as a standalone, it’s best enjoyed as part of the series.

Charlie has very little spare time, but what she does have she fills with cooking, pole-dancing, reading and ice-hockey. She also thinks that everyone should have at least one favourite dinosaur…

When a handsome stranger arrives, James and Ed have to make a choice that will change their lives.

James Durkin is happy. He’s landlord of the pub, chair of the parish council and secret lover of his best friend, Ed Cropper. But Ed, tired of living in the shadows, dreams of living openly, something James can’t contemplate.

Then there’s Arthur Whittaker. When the handsome young primary school teacher comes to live in the village, he signals a future that neither James nor Ed ever saw for themselves.

But the small Yorkshire village of Napthwaite is a place that’s resistant to change, meaning the three men must be strong enough to forge their own path…

Will they overcome the odds—and tradition—to find the love they crave, or will their brave new world crumble to nothing under the pressure?

Reader advisory: This book contains instances of homophobia, and references to parental death and on-page drug-taking.

About the Author

kp-profile

I have written for as long as I could write. In fact, before, when I would dictate to my auntie. I love to read, and I love to create worlds and characters.

I live in the English countryside. When I’m not writing, I like to get out there and think through the next scenario I’m going to throw my characters into.

Inspiration can be found anywhere, on a train, in a restaurant or in an office. I am always in search of the next character to find love in one of my stories. In a world of apps and online dating, it is important to remember love can be found when you least expect it.

This warm hug of a romance is completely satisfying

61407327Like I Wished by Charlie Novak

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sometimes you just want to read a book without any of the angsting, overly dramatic scenarios or unbelievable mess-ups that cause the Third Act break-up.

Well, that’s what this book is. Just one giant hug of love from the beginning to the end with only a couple of non-relationship related quibbles which provide a bit of tension in a gentle and completely relatable way.

This is the second full length entry in Charlie’s Yorkshire Coast small town set romances and it’s more grounded in its roots with a lovely vibe of the type of friendship and family life that is indicative of these close-knit communities.

We got a bit of a glimpse that there might be something going on between Noah and Spencer towards the end of Lane and Oliver’s book but here we find out Noah’s been crushing on his best mate Alex’s older brother since they were teenagers.

There’s a few cross-series mentions of some of Charlie’s other series’, which I really love as I’m a big fan of interconnected universes where the books stand alone but have an Easter Egg feel if you’ve read the others.

We also get a hint or two about what might be on the cards for a couple of the other men in this gang of old friends and newer incumbents to their little home town and I’m totally down for what I think is going to be one of the pairings!

With the secondary story here focusing on Spencer finally dealing with the injury that halted his professional football career, Noah’s fears about his body image, and the bisexual awakening journey Spencer is on, this really is a lovely read and perfect for snuggling up with a blanket and a hot drink and whiling away a few hours.
