Ana Ashley delivers an interesting and fun ménage romance

58034931._SY475_The Resort by Ana Ashley

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an interesting and fun ménage romance set on an island resort.

Although the narrative felt a bit jerky at times, overall the storyline itself felt like it progressed at a great pace and with accurate reflections of the feelings of each of the three men involved.

I liked the dynamics between Mal and Griff as a pair, and then the way they expanded their behaviour to bring Jake in also worked well. I never felt a sense of third wheel or just a bit on the side from them.

There’s also great communication throughout the book, thankfully no silly dramady from misunderstandings or lack of conversation, I also appreciated that the major plot points were more related to outside effects or pressures and weren’t just relationship mess-ups.

It’s ridiculously steamy too, at times perhaps a bit too much, but there are also some great conversations and just couple/throuple time where they’re connecting in other ways outside of sex.

The surrounding cast of characters are really well drawn out, as is the setting, it felt like a solid, real place that you could sense the family feeling of those involved in the business and I adored Jake’s Uncle Frank and his cousin Gabe.

Speaking of, he’s the subject of the next installment, although I believe that may be a newsletter serial rather than a book (would need to confirm that) and I’m looking forward to seeing how Ana makes that potential threesome different to this one.

Another scorching hot and emotionally satisfying read from Roe

58038447._SY475_Naked Games by Roe Horvat

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Picture a flowing river of molten lava, the steam bursting off the surface, the crackle and pop of the liquid as it rolls down the hillside, the heat filling the air.

That’s how hot this book is. But, as with any of Roe’s erotica, this book is so much more than just incandescent sex.

I wish I could put my finger on the secret ingredient which turns his stories from just loads of sex into an emotionally engaging narrative that delivers a compelling romance alongside all the steam.

This one is an absolute cracker. Not content with writing almost perfect throuples. This time he’s turned his hand to a quartet.

It starts off as a one-time sexcapade in a club – three men who’ve been committed to each other for years looking to have a night of fun.

Curtis attracts their attention, and he gets to fulfil one of his wildest fantasies at the club owned by one of the men, Ethan, a giant of a bear with all the heart of your favourite teddy. He’s huge in every way and Curtis can’t wait to find out just how that feels.

The other two men, Jack and George, are as different as night and day. Jack is analytical, driven, a perfectionist in his work, no matter what that might be. George is like liquid flame, a dark-skinned dancer who oozes sensuality in his every move on stage or off.

They’ve been together since Jack fell for George having seen him dance three years previously. Jack and Ethan had been together seven years before that.

Curtis is understandably nervous at how he’ll fit in with this solid throuple.

But Roe, as ever, makes it work. Ethan needs someone to take care of, Jack and George are both independent and don’t want to be his boy. Curtis craves the attention. His upbringing has been less than stellar, he thinks he can’t commit to a relationship because he’s had no good examples to show him how.

I’ll leave it up to you to find out how Curtis discovers he’s not only capable of commitment, but actually needs it when you pick up this stunning book.

Let’s just say it worked perfectly for me.

It was Inevitable I would fall in love with this book

inevitable coverInevitable by Briar Prescott

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Do you know what was Inevitable about this book? That Briar Prescott would write a beautiful and unconventional love story that takes hold of your heart and won’t let go.

The navigation of a relationship with just two people is complicated enough, but throw in a third, add in one of the MCs being Ace and two of them being best friends who’ve been in love without ever acknowledging it for half their lives and you could have had a right mess.

Instead, what Briar gives the reader is an organically developed and cleverly paced narrative that takes them on a journey alongside Bas, Drew and Ezra as what they each bring to the other proves to be the catalyst for taking chances.

There is some angst, it would be unbelievable if there weren’t doubts, fears and occasional stumbles, but a lot of the tension is caused by events outside of their relationship.

***SPOILER***

Drew’s parents and sister are insert swear words of choice here and my heart broke for him when he came to the realisation that he’d never meet their unobtainable standards while remaining his true self. I despise people that cannot accept their children for who they are when it comes to their sexuality and identity.

***ENDS***

But, for me, everything about the way they came together just made sense, they fit and Ezra acted as the glue between Bas and Drew which let them finally let loose on their love.

It’s not particularly steamy, there is a wonderfully hot hook-up when Drew meets Ezra for the first time (he and Bas are not a couple, no cheating here just saying!) and there is one scene between the three of them after they’ve committed to being a throuple.

Both are emotionally connected and integral to the plot, not thrown in just to meet a quota, and they resonate with feelings. The Epilogue is just gorgeous and made me very happy.
