Is it possible that Tavish’s fender-bender on a snowy day will lead to him getting romantically rear-ended?

Having a car accident turn into a meet-cute? That definitely wasn’t how I saw my day going.

Because as soon as I collide into the back bumper of a fancy German SUV that costs more than a year of my college tuition, I’m pretty sure my life is over. Nightmares of getting yelled at and sued for what little I’m worth flash before my eyes.

But I somehow lucked out by hitting the nicest guy in Wintervale. Leith is more concerned about me being okay than the state of his ride. Having a stranger care more about my well-being than my last two exes combined has me blubbering in a way that merits getting called “kid” by the older man.

Instead of leaving me for dead on the side of the road like I deserve, Leith is my knight in shining armor who comes to my rescue—albeit on a slightly banged-up white stallion after our little run-in.

If the wreck wasn’t enough incentive for us to get together, the cosmic universe practically shoves me into his arms when we get snowed in, with nothing else to do besides getting to know each other.

Maybe if I’m lucky, he’ll be the one “rear-ending” me in bed tonight.

Come from Behind is a Suite Dreams series standalone side story novella. It’s a super sexy, incredibly swoony, age gap, forced proximity, no angst romance set in the small town of Wintervale that is as sweet and funny as it is hot and steamy.

Chapter 2: Tavish Hartigan

How was it possible that I had rear-ended a Mercedes driver twice, and he was comforting me? He had wrapped me up in his coat and strong embrace, offering me warmth and sanctuary as I embarrassed myself by sobbing like a scared little kid. I shamelessly clung to him as I cried, never wanting to let go of the man who dwarfed me with his larger frame. For some strange reason, I felt safe in his arms as he murmured words of reassurance to me that I soaked up.

When my tears had quieted to sniffles, he guided me to gaze up at him without letting me go. “I’m Leith Dennison. What’s your name?”

“Tavish Hartigan.” I sniffled as I gazed up at him with wide eyes. He looked like a dashing Prince Charming in the snow with his dazzling smile, brown hair, and green eyes. “Why aren’t you mad at me?”

His smile was so gentle and reassuring that it eased some of my panic. “Like I said, the roads are shit right now. Accidents happen. It’s just a car.” He stroked my hair like I was a beloved pet. “I know a guy who can fix it for cheap, and if it needs replaced, my brother will give me a steep discount since he owns a Mercedes dealership. Insurance will cover the cost either way, so it’s not worth being upset about.”

“You’re not rich?” I regretted the question as soon as it was out of my mouth, but the sound of his laughter filled my soul with warmth.

“Not even a little.” He continued chuckling. “I’m a self-employed book cover designer who drives for Ryde part-time. If my brother owned a Honda dealership, I’d be driving one of those instead of a Mercedes.”

Hearing that driving was part of his job made me feel awful. “But you won’t be able to work until your car is fixed because of me!”

“It’s not that big of a deal. Working as a Ryde driver isn’t my primary source of income. It’s more the thing I do to pick up some extra spending money and get out of the house to enjoy human interaction whenever I’m bored. A few days off while they repair the car won’t impact my ability to pay my bills. With the roads being so bad, I wouldn’t be working as a driver, anyway.”

I sagged with relief. “Then I guess it’ll just be my parents who want to kill me for wrecking the car.”

“Trust me. The only thing your parents will care about is that the car did its job of keeping you safe. As long as you’re okay, they won’t care if it’s totaled. Vehicles can be replaced. You can’t.”

Now that I had calmed down, I saw the wisdom in his words. I had a close relationship with my folks, so he was right about them being more worried about my safety than the car. Without thinking, I buried my face against his chest as I hugged him tighter. His sandalwood cologne was masculine, comforting, and arousing, all at the same time. I wanted to wrap myself up in him like a blanket and never let go. “Thank you. I’m sorry for freaking out.”

“Don’t worry about it. You’re fine.” He held me closer as he rested his chin on top of my head. I had never been happier to be so short. It was wrong of me to soak up his kindness and comfort after I had rear-ended him twice. However, months of being single after getting out of a toxic relationship left me greedy. It was a nice preview of what having a strong, older boyfriend would be like. And I loved it.

A swoony festive romance with loads of heart and heat

62218401._SY475_His Last Christmas in London by Con Riley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one of the swooniest, most romantic festive romances I’ve read. It just melted all my heartstrings and gave me the loveliest warm feeling.

When Ian meets Guy it’s not the best of times for him, he’s facing the thought of having to go back home to Cornwall having failed at his photography career in London.

Of course, there’s way more to it than that, including a machiavellian former agency boss who stole Ian’s work while screwing him over in other multiple ways, as well as a tale of lost love in Guy’s past which means these two are both bruised and aching when they meet.

With guest appearances from characters in one of Con’s other wonderful series’ – see if you spot the link, I’m not spoiling it! – there’s a real sense of a wider world outside the streets of the capital city and a hope that maybe there’s more in the future for this pair.

As Ian and Guy stumble their way firstly into a lustful encounter, all the while thinking this could only be a short-lived fling, it’s obvious that feelings are growing deeply between them.

With Ian’s wonderful flatmates Patrick & Seb (yes Con I NEED their book please) doing their best to keep him in London, the days flash by in a whirlwind of dates, restaurant meet-ups for Guy’s job as a critic, and an unfolding of his past with his late husband which goes a long way to explaining his closed off and seemingly cold exterior.

Of course, Ian soon learns that’s all a front for one of the most kind-hearted, but vulnerable and desperately lonely men he’s ever known. Guy’s nothing like the monster he’s been portrayed as, but is the age gap between them too great, as well as the pending separation?

Well, you’ll have to read and find out won’t you, let’s just say, if the ending of this book doesn’t give you the biggest smile, you’ve got a dead zone at your centre 😉😋

I loved this book beyond words, it’s just the most perfect restorative tonic for the festive season and I love seeing how it so effortlessly gives background to a scene Con’s readers might just have seen in a previous book elsewhere in her back catalogue!

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review

As ever, I alpha read this book for Con.

“You ran the stop sign back there,” the officer said. He narrowed his eyes and studied my face. “Are you okay?”

“Okay?” I asked, then became aware of my wet face. I quickly wiped away the tears. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

The officer leaned over to look into my back seat before meeting my gaze. “Did you get into an argument with someone?”

“Nah, I dumped his dumb ass a few months ago.”

I didn’t see a flicker of reaction in his golden gaze, but his mouth curved into a wry smile. “Ouch,” he said. “Pretty sure more than a few of my girlfriends have said the same about me.”

I clasped my imaginary pearls. “Say it ain’t so.”

The officer chuckled and crossed his heart. “What upset you so much that you ran the stop sign?”

“Oh, I just drove by my aunt’s old place and was sad to see the new owners don’t love it as much as she did. It’s no excuse, and I’m sorry.”

Officer Hottie nodded and said, “I’ll need to see your license, registration, and proof of insurance.”

“You don’t want to frisk me for weapons?” One of these days, my mouth would get me into a lot of trouble.

The cop blinked a few times, and then a slow smile spread across his face until twin dimples peeked out from his cheeks. “Pretty sure you’ve shown me your weapons already.”

I knew he was talking about my sharp tongue and quick wit, but I couldn’t let him off the hook. “Oh, darling,” I cooed, “there’d be no doubt if I had.”

A series of beeps emitted from the radio hooked to his vest, followed by a tinny voice calling out codes and unit numbers. The sexy officer stood up straight and turned toward his patrol car. I glanced up in the rearview mirror and saw his partner, a super sexy Hispanic man, signaling for my new fantasy boyfriend to hurry up.

“You’re in luck,” the tawny cop said, startling me.

I clutched my nonexistent pearls again and said, “You sure move quickly and quietly for such a big guy,” I said.

“Like a lion,” he replied with a wink. “You won’t see me coming until I’m on you.”

“Promises, promises.”

Another flash of those dimples. “I have to answer another call, so I’m letting you off with a verbal warning.”

“Oh, good,” I purred. “Oral is my favorite.”

He shook his head and straightened to his full height, putting me at eye level with his big dick again. “Drive safely,” he called out as he retreated to his cruiser.

I shamefully stared at his ass in the side mirror and wiggled my fingers at them as they drove by with their lights flashing and sirens blaring a few seconds later. I released a sigh, relegated the handsome man to my fantasies, and drove to the store to grab a few staples before heading to my new apartment.
