Blurb

Lornyc is good at keeping secrets, because secrets can get you killed.

Lornyc hates politics. The small talk, backstabbing, and the attempts to undermine his marriage make his blood boil and his head ache. But what he really hates is someone kidnapping his husband. The suspicion that the Valen are somehow involved is confirmed when the truth about Methian’s real parentage is revealed.

But there are other fights ahead, this time with the mage when Lornyc discovers that they were not only behind his mother’s family being stripped of their magic, but have been trying to limit the Reagalos family powers for centuries.

REBECCA COHEN spends her days dreaming of a living in a Tudor manor house, or a Georgian mansion. Alas, the closest she comes to this is through her characters in her historical romance novels.

She also dreams of intergalactic adventures and fantasy realms, but because she’s not yet got her space or dimensional travel plans finalised, she lives happily in leafy Hertfordshire, England, with her husband and young son. She can often be found with a pen in one hand and sloe gin with lemon tonic in the other.

With contemporaries, historicals, sci fi and fantasy in her back catalogue, there should be something for every taste in Rebecca’s work.

A tense and exciting journey as Lor deals with Methian’s disappearance

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book Three sees things take a turn into unfamiliar ground as Lor suddenly finds his husband missing.

The sense of danger and the idea that there are far bigger plottings going on than either Lornyc or Methian could ever have imagined make their presence felt in more than one direction.

Lornyc discovers secrets long held buried and while he searches for Methian, his husband is also finding out elements in his own family that will change everything.

The pacing in this instalment really kicks up a gear and the narrative explores more about the Valen and the world they occupy.

It becomes clear people have been hiding some revelations that will have far reaching implications for all the cities on the lake.

One thing that doesn’t change though is Lornyc and Methian’s devotion to each other. They come to rely on that even more and realise that petty squabbling will not get them anywhere.

I absolutely love what Rebecca is doing with this series and seeing Lornyc grow into his role is so enjoyable.
