Blurb

Joe Bagshaw doesn’t believe in love or marriage anymore, which is rather a hindrance for a wedding planner.

His own marriage was a whirlwind affair that ended before the ink could dry on the wedding certificate. Nevertheless, even with his divorce pending, he’s getting by. Or at least he was until he finds himself snowed in at a remote Scottish hotel with the wedding party from hell, a terrible ABBA tribute band, and his soon-to-be ex-husband.

Lachlan has missed Joe from the second his husband walked away. He wants Joe back and is prepared to do anything to get him. Being snowed in together seems to offer the chance Lachlan needs, but does he have what it takes to get Joe to trust in love and their marriage again?

From bestselling author Lily Morton, comes a romantic comedy about love, matrimony, and the best of second chances.

This is the first book in the Confetti Hitched series.

Excerpt

“I’m so sorry, Joe.”

“Don’t worry about it,” I croak. “This happens to me a lot.

I’m crammed into a tiny bathroom cubicle, holding up one end of a massive meringue wedding dress. Lena the bridesmaid holds the other end while the bride sits on the loo.

Daisy stares at me from her porcelain perch. “This happens a lot?”

“Oh, almost every day,” I say airily. “I’d bet most gay men have never had this experience. I’ll be the envy of the gay choir.”

She snorts and Lena shifts in her cramped position in the bathroom stall. “Joe’s a wedding planner, so I’m presuming this is part of his job description, but I really do think the bridesmaid’s charter needs updating. I saw mention of hen nights, crappy dresses, and bridal blues, but absolutely zip about holding a wedding dress while the happy woman pees.”

Daisy chuckles. “This will be just like all those times I’ve held your hair back when you were drunk.”

“I’m just coming at it from the opposite end.”

They grin at each other, and I shift from foot to foot.

“It’s very warm in here,” I observe. “I hope I don’t faint, because that would make this whole thing very awkward.”

“It can get more awkward?” Lena says incredulously.

Daisy sighs. “I’m so sorry but I can’t go now.”

“Performance anxiety,” Lena says. “I do hope your bridegroom doesn’t suffer from the same thing.”

I twist to face the wall as best I can, trying to avoid leaving the skin of my nose on the door hinges. “I’ll try to give you some privacy,” I wheeze.

Blurb

Jason Lewis is a self-proclaimed nerdy guy who hates his red hair. Bullied most of his life, at twenty-three social situations still make him awkward.

On a trip to the World Video Game Expo in Las Vegas, Jason decides to enlist the help of Destiny Ink in his failed romantic endeavors.

While at the con, he runs into sexy, professional baseball pitcher Blake Huntington, the guy he tutored in high school.

Blake invites him to a party and after hanging out with his high school crush, Jason begins to regret booking his Destiny encounter later that night. He has no idea that he’s about to have the best night ever.

Would his old friend even remember him? He’d tutored him for six months, and they saw a movie once. For some reason, Blake had always waited after his second hour math class until Jason arrived for Spanish to give him updates about his progress or sometimes just to ruffle up his hair and say, “Hey, short-stack.” Jason had been late to Spanish so many times, he got a few demerits, but seeing Blake had been the highlight of his day. Overall the teasing had lessened that year with the baseball star being nice to him. Too bad they hadn’t had the same lunch hour. Blake even invited him to his graduation party, but Jason, still too shy, had opted to send a gift rather than attend.

Thankfully, Abby bought him contacts and a car junior year, and he signed up to take some college courses via a postsecondary option program where he earned high school and college credit for basic classes. By eating lunch in the guidance counselor’s office, he’d managed to avoid the daily harassment, his swirly average being reduced to less than one a semester. Though still living at home, he flourished in the more academic setting of college. He even joined a martial arts club, got in shape, and made some real friends.

Jason was a far different man than that nervous, scared boy of fifteen.

Blake had a powerful effect on his life, but Jason was probably a footnote to him. That nerdy, red-haired geek who helped him pass math. What was his name again?

He should turn around and forget this whole idea. But all too soon, the man directing the flow of traffic asked him which player he wanted to meet.

His throat went dry. “Blake Huntington.”

The man gestured for Jason to enter the center line. His heart skipped when he caught a glimpse of Blake at the table of famous ballers.

My God, the man was sexier than the screensaver of him Jason had on his computer.

Deanna Wadsworth might be a bestselling erotica author, but she leads a pretty vanilla life in Ohio with her wonderful husband and a couple adorable cocker spaniels. She has been spinning tales and penning stories since childhood, and her first erotic novella was published in 2010.

She has served multiple board positions for different RWA chapters, including President of the Rainbow Romance Writers in 2017. When she isn’t writing books or brainstorming with friends, you can find her making people gorgeous in a beauty salon.

An avid reader, she also loves gardening, cooking, music, and dancing. Often she can be seen hanging out on the sandbar in the muddy Maumee River or chilling with her hubby and a cocktail in their basement bar.

In between all that fun, Deanna cherishes the quiet times when she can let her wildly active imagination have the full run of her mind.

Her fascination with people and the interworkings of their relationships have always inspired her to write romance with spice and love without boundaries.

I adore second chance romance and this one is beautiful

Confetti Hearts coverConfetti Hearts by Lily Morton

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Second chance romance is one of my favourite tropes to read and when it’s coupled with Lily’s deft hand at snarky men and their patient older lovers it turns into gold.

This is a beautifully quiet romance. By that, I mean that there’s no over the top extravagant gestures, no huge declarations of love in front of dozens of people.

Instead we get a man who knows he messed up, who takes determined action to enable his ability to get in the same space as his separated husband and try to make things right.

As with Lily’s wonderful After Felix we get to see the falling in love part of this romance before we hit the painful separation. I won’t be giving anything away here, only I will say my heart broke as badly as Joe’s did when things went wrong.

Having seen the after effects of this split in Gabe and Dylan’s wedding book Vow Maker it’s even worse when you know how perfect Joe and Lachlan were for each other.

But, with the consummate skill she possesses for putting the broken pieces back together, Lily delivers a gorgeous forced proximity, only one bed snowed in romance set on the shores of Loch Lomond with a battle-axe mother-of-the-bride, a kind happily married couple and a plot for getting your husband back that almost descends into chaos.

Watching Joe realise he’d been wrong months before is painful, but then seeing these two men reconnecting, firstly as friends, and then into the powerfully connected sexual relationship they once had, really is a joyful experience.

With this being the start of a new series, there’s plenty of potential in Joe’s workmates for new stories and I’m really hoping first up is his boss Jed and his younger assistant Arthur but I suspect we may get Joe’s best mate and work colleague Rafferty first and I’m definitely up for that too as he’s a peach!

This is a real feel good romance guaranteed to warm the heart and put a smile on your face.
