I couldn’t love this pair more if I tried

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, Seb and Trent went right to the top of my all-time favourite Lane characters just behind the wonderful Nick and Wes from Leaning Into the Fall but they’ve just lost their place to Pierce and Lorenzo.

This book is just a gorgeous read. It’s about finding your perfect person in an unexpected place, it’s about connections and regrets, it’s about family – the good and the bad – and it’s about love, oh it’s so much about love.

The love between partners, the love between friends, the love between family, and how damaging that can be when it’s missing.

Lane’s also crafted one of the most wonderful characters is Jasper Gowan. Mr G will steal your heart and then you’ll get all weepy like I did as you find out more about his past and his love David.

As soon as I picked up this book I knew I would have to read it all in one go because the narrative was so compelling from the start.

We’ve met Pierce, he’s the hot shot action hero Hollywood star of the Baxter Chronicles. However, behind the scenes he’s lonely, he’s wondering if the fame is worth it and he’s sick of the machinations that go on behind the scenes.

We’ve also met Lorenzo, he’s a background character in Lane’s The Wrong Man working in Brad’s store, which is where we find him still in this book, only now he’s the manager. He’s out, proud, and utterly fabulous and he’s sure there’s some kind of an agenda going on when his path crosses with Pierce’s as part of a rehabilitation exercise following a bout of bad publicity.

Mr G is the catalyst who brings these two radically different men together and, the more time they spend in each other’s company, the more they realise they both want the same thing – someone to come home to who loves them.

Everything about this book just worked for me, I adored it and I would happily have read for hours more seeing these two fall in love!
