Road to Blissville just keeps getting better!

40033613This Time Around by Aimee Nicole Walker

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My favourite one yet in this series. There’s nothing I love more than a well done second chance romance and Aimee delivered one in spades.

Andy and Milo were such a great pair, even before they officially sorted out their issues the sparks were flying. I loved the little insights into their past, the knowledge they had of each other as teenagers still proving to be the case 12 and then 14 years later.

I loved that it took time for them to reconnect outside of the mad sexual attraction and there was some truly spectacular angry sex going on when Andy first came home.

The long gap worked well, both men had matured and grown and learnt to come to terms with their parts in the break up and with the flaws in each of them which had made them capable of hurting the other.

As ever, the town of Blissville provide a a character of its own, as do the other residents and we get to catch up with Maegan and Elijah as well as Jon and Emory and see Memphis’ introduction to Lyric, whose romance is up next.

I love reading an author series where I know I’m going to pick up a book and be entertained throughout and Aimee Nicole is one of those for me.

At the café Milo Miracle co-owns with his twin sister, coffee and pastries are served up along with his unique blend of sass and snark. Milo knows that small-town life often means that every day is the same as the one before, and excitement can only be found in the gossip that travels faster than the speed of light. When the dark-haired Adonis who broke his heart returns home after a twelve-year absence, Milo unhappily finds himself at the center of Blissville’s favorite pastime.

Andy Mason was practically a kid when he left home to pursue big-league ambitions, but the man who returns to Blissville is humbled by shattered dreams and secrets he’s not ready to share with Milo. Andy’s no stranger to grit and determination, and he’ll need both to win back Milo’s cynical heart.

Strong wills clash with stubborn hearts, triggering combustible passion once Andy starts renovations at the café. Milo would like to keep Andy’s hands busy doing something other than construction. Andy would like to suggest what Milo can do with his wicked tongue besides trade barbs with him.

Neither man is willing to budge until they get a little shove from an outside force. Will Andy and Milo learn that trust is a two-way street, or will this time around end as disastrous as the first?

This time around is a witty, sexy, and endearing love story about two men who learn how to balance push and pull, both in and out of the bedroom.

It is the fourth book in the Road to Blissville series but can be read as a standalone book. This book contains sexually explicit material and is intended for adults eighteen and over.

EXCERPT

When Andy reached the top of the steps, he found a light switch on the wall. Only one socket had a bulb in it, so it wasn’t bright enough for Andy to see anything besides trunks and trunks of stuff stacked everywhere.

I turned my head slightly to the left and saw the outline of a woman’s silhouette out of the corner of my eyes. “Ghost!” I yelled, then dove behind Andy.

“Where?” Andy asked, turning in circles and swinging his flashlight to illuminate every corner of the dark, dusty space. “That?” he asked.

I peeked around his broad back and ducked my head under his armpit to see. In the center of the flashlight beam was one of those old-fashioned wire mannequins they used to hang dresses on. In fact, the mannequin sported a flowing, white dress that looked like something a woman wore in the eighteen hundreds. Of course, the white color of the gown in contrast to the dark space gave it a ghostly appearance.

“Seriously, Milo? I nearly pissed myself over a mannequin.”

“You almost jizzed yourself earlier.”

“Don’t pretend I didn’t feel your hard-on pressing up against mine, Milo.”

“True, but that wasn’t what I was referring to.”

“Then what the fuck are you talking about?” Andy asked, sounding angry all over again.

“Simon!”

“You want to talk about Simon, Milo? We’ll talk about Simon.”

“Fine, I’m going first. Since when does your uncle want to fix you up with your cousin? What kind of fuckery is this?”

“Paul isn’t my biological uncle,” Andy said. “He and my dad are best friends. Uncle was an honorary title I gave him when I was a kid.”

“Oh.” Yeah, that took the wind right out of my sails. “Are you going to take Simon on a date?”

“Should I, Milo? Is he good in bed?”

I gasped dramatically, of course. “Are you slut shaming me?”

“Are you acting slutty?”

“And if I was?” I demanded to know.

Silence. “You make me fucking crazy, Milo.”

“That makes two of us.” I realized what I said. “Wait. I meant that you make me crazy too. So crazy that I can’t even think. You rob me of my ability to snark.”

“You act as if that’s a talent,” Andy scoffed.

EXCERPT

We didn’t say anything on our way up to Dare’s room because neither of us wanted to risk waking Ralph. We were lucky that we didn’t get caught when we pulled that stunt in the laundry room. Okay, the stunt that I pulled. I knew that Ralph liked me, and I even suspected he knew that his grandson had become very important to me, but that didn’t give me the right to be disrespectful in his home.

It wasn’t because we were gay either. I would’ve felt the same if we were a straight couple sneaking up to… Couple? I rolled the word around in my head a few times, expecting a negative thought to refute its validity but none came. I discovered I liked the way the word felt, sounded, and even tasted on my tongue. Just because I didn’t speak it out loud didn’t mean it was less true.

When we got to Dare’s room, we silently undressed each other in between soft kisses in the muted light from the lamp on the bedside table. The mood between us was different like we both had realized something important that day: what we shared was poignant and real. There was a confidence in Dare’s hands when he touched me and in his eyes when he looked at me. Did he see and feel the same changes in me?

Even my arousal was different. Rather than the all-consuming fire, it was a slow-burning flame that never seemed to diminish or burn out. It vibrated through me like normal, but new emotions joined the passion: tenderness and a desire for something I didn’t deserve and shouldn’t want. I’d been stingy with my heart for my entire life, giving it only to my mom who had died and a boy who was nearly rejected by his family for loving me.

My mom didn’t choose to willingly leave me, but the boy did. I didn’t blame him, but it still hurt, especially when our breakup was only a few months after my mom’s death. I had no one in the world I could count on until I met Jimmy and Danny. I sure as hell couldn’t count on Falcon. Just thinking about him brought on a fresh wave of exhaustion, which killed my arousal.

Dare didn’t seem to mind. He pulled back the sheets and blankets then gestured for me to climb inside. He joined me after I got situated then turned off the light before he rolled over and lay his head on my chest. In the dark, it was easier to find the words that I couldn’t speak to anyone else. Hell, Jimmy and Danny didn’t even know that Falcon was my sperm donor, yet here I was about to tell Dare everything.

“Wren,” he said softly in the darkness. “You don’t have to tell me anything if you don’t want to, okay? If you do want to talk, I promise you that nothing you say will leave this room.”

“I know, Sparkles.” I trailed my hands up and down his back, finding comfort in the rhythm and already familiar feel of my fingers bumping along his spine. “You’d never betray my trust.” I knew it as certain as the sun would rise in the east. No matter what happened between us, Dare would keep my confidence. “Once upon a time,” I began to lighten the mood. I expected Dare to snort, but he giggled. “What?”

“That’s a phrase I use frequently in my head. I tend to work everyday events into fairy tales.”

“Yeah? Who am I?” I asked.

“Prince Charming, duh. Only with longer hair, biker boots, and a beefier body. My prince rides a Harley instead of a horse.”

“Sparkles, I’m nobody’s Prince Charming.”

“You don’t get to decide that,” he said in a singsong voice. “I decide who my Prince Charming is and no one else.”

I ignored the fluttering in my stomach and dug deep for a gruff response. “Fine, but don’t say that I didn’t warn you.”

“Once upon a time…” Dare prompted.

My favourite Road to Blissville romance so far

Nobody's Prince Charming (Road to Blissville, #3)Nobody’s Prince Charming by Aimee Nicole Walker

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

Loved this one lots, probably my favourite in the Road to Blissville series because Dare and Wren were not only stupidly hot together but also very funny and sweet.

Dare is such a sweetheart, taking care of his grandpa so he didn’t have to go into a care facility and crushing on Wren and winding him up at every opportunity.
Wren was the big silent type, until the moment when he realised he didn’t actually want to resist Dare any more, then he turned into a bit of a softy.

There’s the usually toing and froing as each man worries he’s not the right one and wonders how the other one feels but there’s also some really beautiful moments with just the two of them, supporting each other and slowly falling in love.

I wasn’t as sure the secondary plot (view spoiler) worked quite as well though, as it seemed to come out of nowhere and then get resolved pretty quickly too but I did like that there was honest conversation about the situation rather than just brooding and a fast resolution.

This one is also seriously smoking hot, involving vibrating butt plugs, cock rings and one of the hottest edging scenes I’ve read in a long while which happened across a yard!

Looking forward to seeing where this one goes next as there’s quite a few potential partnerships on the go and a couple of new ones introduced!

When I returned to the kitchenette, Dare looked as if he were afraid to believe in me. I wondered if maybe our backgrounds weren’t that different after all.

“I just want you to know that I will not be upset if you change your mind, Wren.” It was cute the way he tried to put me at ease.

“Dare, there’s something you need to know about me.” He nodded eagerly, biting his lip nervously as he waited. “Rule number five: I never say things I don’t mean, and I don’t do things I don’t want to do.”

“That’s two different things,” Dare said. “That should be rules five and six.”

“They mean similar things, so they share a rule.”

“Saying and doing aren’t even close to the same thing,” Dare argued. “It would make sense if it was: say what you mean and mean what you say. They could share a rule.”

“They’re my rules, and I’ll categorize them as I see fit.”

“Well,” Dare said huffily. Then he tipped his head to the side and studied me speculatively. “I’ll let it drop if you tell me your first four rules. Not gonna lie, I kind of want to see if I can make you break them.”

“Not a chance,” I declared. His look said we’ll just see about that.

It’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of year for Gabe and Josh Roman-Wyatt as they celebrate their first holidays as fathers, but someone’s war on St. Nick threatens to ruin their holly jolly Christmas.

The Norman Rockwell holiday they had envisioned implodes and shenanigans ensue in true Josh and Gabe style, but that only makes the couple more determined to rejoice in the love and joy they have found in one another. A Black Friday showdown, two foul-mouthed birds, one lumbersexual, ugly Christmas sweaters aplenty, four invading grandparents, and a sexy twist on an advent calendar lead up to oh, holy nights. Catch up with your favorite characters and meet some new faces in a tale that is sure to make you feel as warm as Josh’s creamy, hot-buttered rum concoction.

A Dye Hard Holiday is a funny story about two fathers trying to hold it all together as they juggle busy careers and family life while planning the perfect holiday season. Will they be rocking around the Christmas tree or will it be a blue Christmas? The book is approximately 50,000 words long and is not intended as a standalone book. This supplements the Curl Up and Dye Mysteries series, which should be read in order. This book contains sexually explicit material and is intended for adults 18 and over.

EXCERPT

“Stop your bitching and I’ll blow you.” Josh’s hushed words startled me because I didn’t hear him come up the steps behind me. He was quiet and sneaky like a ninja, but the kind that promised sexual favors instead of killing you. “We’re going to have a fucking Norman Rockwell holiday and you’re going to behave.”

“Or what?” I was picturing him tying me to our bed or cuffing me to a chair in his dance studio to teach me another lesson.

“You’ll ruin your mother’s first Christmas with her grandchildren.” Damn, my husband plays dirty.

“Damn you, Josh.”

“That’s what you said last night when I kept edging you and wouldn’t let you come.” He sounded pleased with himself, as he damn well should, but I wasn’t about to feed into his ego.

“Did you follow me up here to bust my balls?” I asked.

“No, I followed you up here so that I could suck your balls.”

I nearly tripped going up the next step, which would’ve been murder on the instant hard-on he always gave me. “Are you teasing me?”

“Do I ever?”

Josh never teased or offered something he wasn’t willing to give. If he said he came up to suck my balls then he did. “But our parents—”

“Are cuddling their infant grandbabies they haven’t seen in a few months. Trust me, Captain Comes Hard, they’ll forget we exist until their stomachs start to growl at dinnertime.”

“Is that why you had that huge lunch ready to go when they arrived?” I asked. Josh’s considerate scheming never failed to amaze me. Okay, scheming makes it sound like he is a shady character, which he isn’t, but the man always has a good plan in place for every occasion. I benefited from his craftiness more often than not.

“You didn’t seem too upset about the open-faced roast beef sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy that I served,” Josh sassily replied right before he pinched my ass.

“I’m not upset; I’m continually amazed by your brilliance.”

I hastily dumped the luggage in our parents’ suites then grabbed Josh’s hand and tugged him to our room. He was right; our parents wouldn’t even notice that we were missing.

Everything I hoped it would be and then some

Someone to Call My Own (Road to Blissville, #2)Someone to Call My Own by Aimee Nicole Walker

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve been waiting for this one ever since Gabe got the shock of his life when he thought he saw Nate Turner – a man he’d once slept with and who had been murdered – and it turned out to be his twin Jonathan Silver.

I’d wanted Nate not to be dead, so this was the next best thing I thought but actually, that’s doing Silver a disservice as he turned out to be a wonderful character in his own right.

And his perfect man, the one he hadn’t seen coming, was Emory Jackson, broken by the death of his husband five years ago, something he blamed himself for, and haunted by psychic abilities which started after the crash which took River’s life.

Together they were dynamite but it took a long time to get there. Jon never gives up though, once he realises Emory is his happy ending, he waits for the other man to acknowledge they have something special.

It was interesting reading through a lot of the story from the insider’s perspective as we’d seen Emory and Jon’s first meeting through the eyes of Josh and Gabe in their books.

I loved everything about this one, including the side plots which I hope are going to result in stories for Jon’s two best friends Beau and Corbin.
