Alex

I’m the starting quarterback for the Portland Pirates, and I have a thing for my son’s teacher. Except I didn’t know the cute blonde on the beach with the giant dog was, in fact, my kid’s teacher until two months later at Open House.

Christian took my breath away during the second week of my two-week vacation at the beach and introduced me to things I never knew could feel so good and be so right. I think he just might be the one who inspires me to tell the world that this NFL quarterback is bisexual and in love with a man.

That is until I blew the best thing to happen to me since my kids were born. All I know is I have to get him back. I had to find a way to keep him.

Christian

I never imagined I would meet the love of my life while being bowled over on the beach by the overeager Newfoundland I was dog-sitting. But that’s exactly how I ended up on my back in the sand, wrapped in his arms and pressed into the sand by the six-foot-five dark-haired Adonis on the beach. Did I mention he had two beautiful children?

Our week together was worthy of a sexy modern-day fairytale full of promises about the future until he sent me the text that broke my heart. And how was I supposed to get over him when his adorable six-year-old son was in my class?

Find out how Alex and Christian ache to overcome some daunting complications to reunite in The Quarterback Keeper, Book One of The Package Deal Series.

Excerpt

What the hell had just happened? One minute, I was playing fetch with my dog; the next, I had my arms wrapped around the most beautiful man I’d ever seen, trying to protect him from the onslaught of their excitement.

Christian was cocooned in my arms, and the familiar tingling had returned at the mere touch of his skin. My mouth was only inches from his, and his eyes were blue pools of… pain? What the fuck?

“Oh, god,” I rasped, “are you okay?”

I untangled myself from him by gently rolling us onto our sides. Much to my utter horror, my lonely dick decided this was a good moment to become an iron shaft and press itself into his stomach. Mortified was not a strong enough word to describe how I felt about the situation.

“Uhh, I don’t know. My wrist is really hurting,” he replied, tears welling in his eyes. Even as he bit down on his lips to stop them from falling.

“Oh god, I’m so sorry. I tried to catch you from falling when the horses came running through,” I said, trying to use humor to make him forget about my driftwood poking him in the stomach. Damn, he smelled good. Would he taste as good?

Focus Alex! The man is hurt, for fuck sake.

“Don’t make me laugh,” he chuckled, but his brow was scrunched up. Clearly, he was still obviously in pain as he sat up once I had removed myself from pancaking him.

“Can I see it? I’ve had an injury or two like that in the past.” Christian pulled his arm from his chest and slowly lowered it into my waiting hands. The familiar tingling returned as I carefully studied it as if I were an orthopedic surgeon. Of course, I wasn’t, so I had no idea what was wrong with him.

“I don’t think it’s broken, but with bones in the wrist, you never know for sure without an x-ray,” I said gently, running my thumbs over the uninjured part of his skin.

“It hurts like hell.” He winced. “I’ll be okay. Just need some ice on it.”

“I think you should see a doctor. I’ll take you to the Urgent Care in town,” I said as I stood and waited to help him from the sand. I looked over to find both dogs lying in the sand, watching us like a tennis match. At least I wouldn’t have to corral them.

“It’s okay, Alex. I just need some ice on it and maybe some ibuprofen. I’ll be fine,” he tried to reassure me. I almost let it go until I saw him flinch and pull his knees to his stomach when what had to be a bolt of pain radiated up his arm.

Yeah, there was no way I was letting him go without getting checked out.

About the Authors

Rheland Richmond Logo

For as long as she can remember Rheland’s had her nose stuck in a book, getting lost in the world of someone else’s creation (She still does). Her love for writing came from her love for reading. She could never have one without the other.

Writing has always been a hobby and a cathartic experience for her. There are many stories lost to the never to be completed or published pile but needed to be written at the time.

She’s just a girl that loved stories so much she wrote hers.

Rheland would love to hear from her readers and learn more about Y’all. So if you get a chance… please get in touch.

Emerson Beckett Logo

Who is Emerson Beckett? That’s a good question.

I’m a retired educator who loves all things romance and an avid reader and consumer of well-written M/M romance books.

My journey to becoming an author started with an idea I had one night while I sat reading on my sofa. That idea became an email that ultimately resulted in me editing for three wonderfully talented M/M romance authors. The third referral led to an opportunity to co-write with one of the most genuine and kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. (She’s my co-author for Quarterback Keeper.)

I’m a wife and a mother of three beautiful adults, one of which is trans and responsible for my love of this genre. All three have since left us with an empty nest that is now full of pets.

Blurb

Falling for his friend’s straight dad might be the worst mistake Colton Hall has ever made.

Colton’s best friend is gay. He’s not: he’s never been attracted to men. So why the hell is he fantasizing about his friend’s dad? Besides, Nick Swanscott is straight. A devoted father and the best man Colton’s ever known. He deserves more than to be the object of Colton’s crush.

The NFL is waiting for Colton, but he decides to stick it out for his senior year in college before joining the league, a decision that proves disastrous when an injury tears him from the game. In the blink of an eye, Colton goes from being a top draft pick to potentially never playing football again.

But Nick is there through his recovery. He takes care of Colton every day and shows him a future that might hold something more than being a superstar quarterback. Maybe Colton’s life isn’t over.

And Colton’s crush explodes: full-on, head over heels, hopelessly falling in love.

He’s so screwed. He’s got to get these feelings under control. All those dreams of kissing Nick can never become reality. And there’s no way Nick could ever love him back.

Right?

A slow burn, friends to lovers, bi awakening, age gap MM romance.

K.M. struck the right chord with this friends to lovers romance

Strike a Chord

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kyleen rounds off her thoroughly enjoyable Replay series with Benji’s friends to lovers romance and it’s a cracker.

Benji’s the good one, the one who is never any trouble but he’s struggling to see what he’ll do with his life if Downward Spiral actually do implode and split up.

As with the other books in the series, this one runs at the same time as the romances for the other three band members and we get to see what’s happening in their lives from snippets of conversation here.

I loved Benji and Paris and I also loved Paris’ twin brother London. He was determined to fix up Paris with Benji and he didn’t hide it, there was lots of great banter between him and Benji.

The romance starts off as a fake boyfriend Instagram get back at Paris’ ex-boyfriend but it’s pretty clear both men have been in love with the other since they were teenagers. It’s super sweet and slow burn, even though they hook up with blowjobs, before the feelings start coming into play.

There’s sort of flashbacks (but in their heads for brief moments rather than as specific chapters) to when Benji and Paris first met and they help to set the scene for this ultimate friends to lovers romance.

This book wraps up the wonderful Replay series with a romance that’s a study in contrast to Lincoln’s opener and it works perfectly to bring the band’s stories to a close.

I loved it and it ran a good race to become my favourite in the series but ultimately lost out to Jude, Archer and Bennett’s Beat Of Their Own Drum.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.
