Blurb

Who would have thought there was something more horrifying than an indoor boy being forced to live in the Amazon? Yet, there was. In fact, the more descriptive word would be mind-numbingly terrifying. That it was brought into his life by a drop dead gorgeous man claiming he was there to protect Wylie, only made everything that much more surreal.

Since the first druid came into their lives, Fritjof prayed he would never meet the druid that was destined to be his fated love. He knew that emotion would always lead to devastation and heartache. He’d seen it, experienced it, when his mother disowned him for not being able to save his father.

But what happens when the Fae goes after someone they both love? Will they be able to find a way to trust in each other? Are some things impossible to overcome or is it Mind Over Matter?

Mingus had one true love in life, animals. None of them were off the list, although, if he were completely honest, his favorite was his cat, Pretty Baby. He never imagined one day he might have to put someone else first. Not just anyone, but the man who has stolen his heart.

For centuries Oluf has dreamed of finding the one destined to be his. He’d even anticipated the need to woo him by becoming a chef. After all, according to his mother, the way to a man’s heart was through his stomach. What he hadn’t expected was that he would come in second to a cat with sharp claws, who seemed to enjoy using people as her personal scratching post.

As Mingus, Oluf, and their friends get closer to Samhain, the Fae will try to stop them using everything at their disposal. It means finding a way to work together, even if it takes shedding a few Tears of Life to do so. But in the end, will the fate of the human world come down to a cat?

The END is NEAR!

The Fae must be defeated if Brandr and Logan hope to find their happily ever after. Only by working together will have any chance of Mending the Rift and saving humanity.

The end would be upon Brandr and his friends soon. The only question, would Brandr be able to find his fated one in time? He feared he was too late when he arrived to find the field empty. Then the Veil opens again and hell rains down upon him as the Unseelie pets attack. But when Brandr was too injured to move, the Druid he was destined to claim as his own flees in terror. Talk about demoralizing.

That did not happen. Not even in some weird fantasy could Logan have imagined that a dead man could come back to life. And he had definitely been dead, since Logan had to put his head back on his body. But when he was faced with the truth, that the man was immortal, Logan has to admit to being…intrigued.

But as Samhain draws closer, the danger around them increases as the Fae converge. The Fae must be defeated if Brandr and Logan hope to find their happily ever after. Only by working together will have any chance of Mending the Rift and saving humanity.

Being a new member of the undead sect has its ups and downs, something that newly embraced Akio Lee is finding out first hand. Being able to spend eternity with his beloved Vincente, the man who introduced him to life in the nightside, is a definite up. Having to feed on strangers?

That’s one of the downsides, and something that Akio is finding difficult to swallow. But what other option is there for a recently wed vampire couple who need blood to survive?

Finding a new donor perhaps? One who comes into the lifestyle willingly, as Akio had done, and is open to the unique and sensual relationship that develops when three men have a blood bond.

A man who can exist in both the nightside and the dayside worlds. A man like Ian O’Keeffe, the handsome caretaker of the manse Akio and Vincente now call home? Ian seems to tick every box Akio and Vincente have—he’s comfortable around vampires, he’s obviously into men, he’s drop-dead gorgeous, he’s more than a little mischievous, and he’s human. Mostly.

But will the outgoing handyman be willing to offer two vampires his vein, his body, and his heart?

The heart remembers.

When Aidan Bishop staggers out of the woods, naked and suffering from amnesia, he needs to relearn who he is and where he fits in the world.

His boss, nearly five-hundred-year-old dragon Nassim, head of a successful tech company, hurries to claim his wayward assistant and guide him back into the life he disappeared from. As they get to know each other again, Aidan wonders if their relationship went deeper than employer and employee. But Nassim isn’t telling, and Aidan has a secret of his own… even if he doesn’t know it yet.

Excerpt

A CLANG of a pan, chased by a muffled curse, nudged Aidan to full wakefulness the next morning. He lay in bed a moment, half-remembered thoughts—dreams? memories?—racing into nothingness as he looked around the room. Sunlight crept past the edges of the blinds, but it was tough to say what time it was.

There had been dinner at some point. Aidan woke up enough to join Nassim in the kitchen and slurp soup out of a bowl, but he couldn’t say what sort of soup it was or even if he wore a shirt to the table.

On the plus side, he felt much better after hours of solid sleep, uninterrupted by nurses and tests.

He stumbled across the hall to the bathroom, relieved himself, and considered his still-unfamiliar face in the mirror as he brushed his teeth. Fully rested, he felt more capable of facing the world and all of its uncertainties. Really, all he could do was what Dr. Singh had advised—live his life. Or, well, discover his life was the first step, he supposed. He knew his name, and for the moment, he wasn’t alone.

It was a start.

He went back into the guest room—his room—and spotted a notebook on the desk and pens in a cup. His fingers itched to pick one up, so he gave in to the urge, flipped the notebook open, and wrote Aidan Bishop at the top of the page. He could make a list of everything he discovered about himself, and maybe it would help on the days where the world didn’t seem so conquerable.

The first thing he wrote?

Apparently I like to make lists.

It made him grin because, yes, itemizing his thoughts felt right.

I’m optimistic.

Also true. He felt very positive this morning.

Living his life didn’t seem quite so insurmountable. It wasn’t going to be easy—oh, that was something else to write down.

I’m not naïve.

Moving forward was going to be a challenge, but he could do it.

He tapped the pen against the paper for another couple of seconds, but another crash from the kitchen prompted him to abandon his list. It would be there later.

He wandered down the hall, stretching, only to freeze midextension at the sight of Nassim on his knees, his ass in the air as he searched a bottom cupboard for something. The image of round, muscular buttocks, firm handfuls under thin heather-gray sweatpants, with no underwear lines to mar the fabric, made his mouth go dry. And his groin tingle.

Holy shit.

“I’m gay,” he breathed.

“What?” Nassim jerked up and smacked his head into the top of the cupboard. Curses in a language Aidan didn’t know spewed from his lips. It didn’t make him any less hot.

Oh my God. “Just—just a second.”

Aidan raced back down the hall and into his bedroom and skidded to a stop in front of the desk. Breathing hard, he wrote another line in his notebook.

I’m gay. Really, really gay. Oh my God, that ass.

Masting The Flames E-Book Cover.jpg

Blurb

Guilt-ridden after the massacre of his family, Isaac Salvatore turned to binge drinking to escape the pain. Now twenty-four years old, Isaac is a recovering alcoholic woefully out of practice in the magical arts, leaving his fire affinity hanging on the edge of disaster. After a month of rehab, he returns to Beacon Hill and his family, determined to remain sober, learn to control his magic, and figure out a plan for his life that doesn’t involve drinking.

Constantine Batiste is the oldest, most powerful vampire in the city. Born in ancient Gaul, the bastard son of a Celtic king, his long life has been shrouded in tragedy and horrors. Recent mistakes have left him wary and determined to guard his clan from all foes. When two of his clan members fall victim to an ancient evil, he summons the Necromancer of Boston for aid. Accompanying his older brother to the Tower is the handsome young fire mage once wounded by Constantine’s arrogance, and their encounter reignites an attraction that burns within both Constantine and Isaac.

The answer to who is targeting the vampires of Boston is buried in the dark, early days of Constantine’s transition to an immortal life. Isaac finds himself saddled with a painful insight into the evil cutting a swath through the supernatural population of Boston.

While his brother, Angel, takes over the hunt to find and stop the threat to the city, Isaac struggles to find a balance between helping his brother and finding his own purpose and place in the world, free from his brother’s shadow.

Falling in love wasn’t part of his plan, but mastering the flames that burn between him and Constantine soon becomes the most important thing in his life, even as an ancient evil seeks to destroy them.

Mastering the Flames is the fourth book in The Beacon Hill Sorcerer series and is not a standalone. The series should be read in order for maximum enjoyment and understanding of the plot and characters.

Excerpt

Isaac woke to an incessant pounding in his head. He groaned, sat up, and realized his mistake. Someone was pounding on his door and he wasn’t hungover. Being back in his bedroom in the apartment after so long was fucking with his mind.

He tossed back the covers, brushed his long brown hair out of his eyes, and got out of bed. The sun poured through the bedroom window, warming the floor beneath his bare feet as he went to the door. He flung it open and scowled at the impish grin on his best friend’s face. Daniel flung himself forward and Isaac caught him, hugging the apprentice tightly. They were nearly the same height, and both were built lean with similar frames. If not for the hair and skin coloring, they could pass for brothers. Daniel was fair and bright, and Isaac had naturally darker skin that was tanned as if he spent his days under the sun, his hair dark brown with remnants of fire-red highlights.

“You’re home! I’m so glad!” Daniel cried, and Isaac chuckled.

“Hey, Danny,” Isaac replied in greeting. “Angel said he made you go out last night. Lemme guess, Rory was lonely again?”

Daniel pulled back, Isaac’s teasing making him blush. Daniel was a pretty man. Isaac suspected Daniel was entirely unaware of just how gorgeous he was, as there wasn’t even a hint of vanity to be seen in his personality.

“I wanted to stay and see you when you got home, but Angel said you were probably going to crash.” Daniel hedged, biting his lip. “Rory is all alone out there. He still refuses to stay in the Mansion, sleeping in the greenhouse instead. I feel bad for him.”

“I’m sure that’s all you feel,” Isaac teased, and Daniel’s blush went inferno. “My first night home and my best friend bails to hang with a super-hot fae.”

“Hey!” Daniel glared, but his eyes were twinkling. “I am glad you’re home. Going to Nevermore to visit was awkward.”

After the chaos of the first week of his stay, and when his horrific withdrawal was over, Daniel came to visit three times a week, bringing news from home. The High Council was booted from New York City, Portland, Seattle, and Miami, after those cities refused to cooperate with the consulates and magisters stationed therein. They took the chance after Angel defeated the High Magister, forcing the Council to abandon their footholds in Montreal and Boston. In two weeks’ time, half a dozen American cities declared their independence, and rumors swirled that New Orleans was next, with a certain female necromancer and her undead army leading the charge. Angel was being credited with a major shake up in world governments, and he was grumpy about it.

Isaac grabbed his shower kit and a towel and left his room for the bathroom down the hall. He and Daniel shared the hall bath, since Angel had his own in the master bedroom. Daniel followed him in and sat on the sink while Isaac used the toilet then stripped, turning on the shower and waiting for the hot water to start. They didn’t really have any boundaries, not like Isaac and Angel did. Angel was big on personal space and privacy. Isaac really didn’t care. Daniel chatted away, sharing that he’d taken Rory to the City Museum, watched the Marathon at the finish line, and convinced the fae to let Angel front him some money and a credit card.

Isaac hopped in the shower, but left the curtain partially open, listening to Daniel. “I’m with Rory in the bank, and he drops a pouch of gold on the counter, and the teller’s eyes get huge! Some nuggets were bigger than a tennis ball! It was a mess though, since the bank manager thought Rory was his crazy brother, then the cops got called and I had to use the SOS on my phone and Angel came and made everyone leave us alone….” Daniel was excited and his run-on sentence was a non-stop adventure from beginning to end. “Angel puts his foot down, though by this time O’Malley has shown up, the cops are all like, ‘Where did all this gold come from, how’d ya get it?’ Some of them seemed to think Rory was suspicious—he told them his last name, and tons of the police know what Cian looks like, so things got really tense. Rory got all haughty and declared he’d got it from a Roman Caesar for dispatching an orc raid pillaging through a province over 1,800 years ago.”

Daniel shook his head, sighing. “When Angel arrived, I’d never seen humans get so quiet before. Everyone shut up, let Rory gather up his gold, and Angel gave Rory an account in his name from the Salvatore fund and the bank gave him a debit and credit card and a pile of cash.” Daniel was animated, talking with his hands, heels kicking against the cabinet under the sink.

Isaac laughed while he washed, dunking his head under the spray. Watching Daniel talk with so much emotion was enjoyable. His friend was blooming. There was a huge difference in him even in the last month.

Isaac rinsed, then hopped out, Daniel tossing him the towel. He dried off while thinking about the shenanigans his family experienced while he was going through boring group therapy and meditation sessions. “How did Angel get Rory out of the bank?”

Daniel grinned and flipped back a strand of bright blond hair from his eyes. “Eroch saw the gold, curled up on the pouch in Rory’s arms, and hissed at anyone who got too close. No one wanted to piss off the fire-breathing dragon, so Angel declared we were leaving. We went out to eat then took Rory home. Angel refused the gold in exchange for the modern currency, saying the currency was payment for restoring the gardens and the greenhouse. Rory gave Eroch a huge nugget of gold in thanks, and Eroch has it stashed in Angel’s bathroom on a stack of towels in the corner behind the toilet.”

“What? Oh, I bet Angel loves that!” Isaac laughed at the image of Eroch nesting on a gold egg, grumbling whenever Angel went in to use the toilet. Isaac stopped laughing, a sudden thought worrying him. “Wait. Eroch doesn’t think it’s an egg, right?”

Daniel shrugged, and his face fell with sympathy. “No idea. That would be sad, though. Maybe Angel knows. Poor Eroch, if he does.” Daniel paused, eyes wide in alarm. Isaac stopped drying himself, wondering what was wrong. Daniel leaned in and whispered, “What if we got Eroch’s gender wrong? What if he isn’t a he? What if he’s a girl?”

Isaac wrapped the towel around his waist. “We’ve been calling him a male for a year, Danny. If he cared at all, he would have made it known. I think we’re okay.”

“I don’t wanna assume. We’ve been so rude.”

“If he were humanoid and had human ideas of gender, then yes, we’ve been rude.” Daniel rolled his eyes at Isaac then slid off the sink. “Ok, fine. We can ask him at breakfast.” Daniel waved at Isaac over his shoulder as he left the bathroom, dismissing him. “What did I say? Make me some tea!” Isaac called after Daniel who grumbled back at him about being rude, but the water running and the clicking of the stove burner told him Daniel heard him.

Hopefully they didn’t make anything explode this time.

Vietnam veteran Kurt Powell’s addiction almost cost him everything, but a job as a federal agent with the Bureau of Trans-Species Affairs helped him find sobriety and purpose. Now he tracks down dangerous paranormal creatures as well as humans who abuse their magical powers in illegal ways.

Sent from Belfast to the United States as a boy, Desmond Hughes later fell into a disastrous relationship that led to horrific murders. He’s spent seventeen years in a bleak prison with few comforts and no hope of release.

A new mission throws Kurt and Des together in a desperate attempt to prevent disaster. Sometimes what’s long been lost can still be found, but the road to redemption is never easy—and a mutual attraction may not ease the way.

Excerpt

1993

It was fucking cold outside.

When Desmond Hughes had been a young boy in Belfast, he used to go to the Royal Cinema to see American Westerns. John Wayne, Glenn Ford, Randolph Scott, Alan Ladd, Audie Murphy. Des had felt as if he knew those men as well as he knew his neighbors. He’d practiced their accents and spent hours running around the neighborhood with friends and siblings, pretending to be cowboys, Indians, and bandits. He’d insisted to everyone that when he grew up, he was going to move to America and buy a horse. He clearly pictured himself riding through those rugged, remote landscapes with a white Stetson on his head and a six-shooter hanging from his hips. He’d capture all the bad guys.

What he’d never once imagined—what he wouldn’t have believed if anyone had told him—was how cold the desert gets on a clear night. The air in his lungs feeling too thin to sustain him. Endless stars blinking overhead like snowflakes that never fell. And the scent of sage as brittle in his nose as thin shards of glass.

The only warmth in addition to his government-issued orange cotton jumpsuit was a thin blanket wrapped around his shoulders. The chill of the concrete seeped right through his cheap socks. Yet despite the cold, Des remained outside, pacing within the confines of his tiny exercise yard. Six strides away, four over, six back, four over. He looked up at the sky rather than at the high concrete walls or the electrified wire that topped them. He inhaled deeply, bringing in odors of the outdoors. When he was lucky, he’d catch an owl’s call or a coyote’s howl. The faint sounds always seemed as far away as the stars.

“And here you are in the American West, just as you promised.” He had frequent conversations with himself, and he hoped they staved off insanity rather than being a symptom of it. Or maybe insanity wouldn’t be so bad, especially if it were a comfortable kind. His grand-aunt Molly from Donegal, for instance, had believed herself to be a maighdean mhara—a mermaid—and had insisted on taking long baths daily so she wouldn’t dry out. Once in a while she grew upset because she couldn’t find the magic cap that would allow her to grow a tail and breathe beneath the water again, but mostly she was content. She used to sit at her open window and sing, in hopes of luring handsome men.

Des wouldn’t mind that sort of insanity if it helped him tolerate incarceration. Of course it would be difficult to be a merman here in Nevada, with the ocean so very far away. He’d have to become something else instead.

“Ah, but you’d still be a prisoner, Des. This place is full of creatures, and none of them any freer than you.”

He never saw or heard any of his fellow inmates, but he knew they were there: Monsters too dangerous to allow in public but not so threatening that the Bureau of Trans-Species Affairs needed to destroy them. And humans who, like Des, had become involved in things they shouldn’t have. Larry had told him about this prison, probably to frighten Des and keep him close. Nobody who’s locked up there ever gets out.

Now Des shivered hard and tried to turn his thoughts to slightly better things.

“Remember your first Fourth of July, Des?” He’d been only ten years old when his mother sent him away to live with distant relatives in America, virtual strangers living in a small house in suburban Chicago. Although they were strict about many things, including early bedtimes, that night they’d barbecued hamburgers and let all the kids sit on the front lawn, ready to watch the nearby fireworks. Des had been delighted to get his first look at fireflies. “And you ate so many Popsicles that you were nearly ill.” He traced fingers over his bristly cheeks and chin in recollection of the sweet stickiness that had once been there.

“I wonder what the date is now. Doesn’t matter, I suppose. I’ve even lost track of the year, and that particular Fourth was a long time ago.” He was seeing more threads of gray in his long dark-blond hair, and he supposed there were lines on his face as well.

Still circling the inside of the exercise yard, he was in the midst of recalling his first American Halloween when the light outside the doorway blinked twice. When he’d first been imprisoned, he ignored the signal and remained outside—a small attempt at independence. But a hidden guard had shot him with a tranquilizer, and hours later Des had awakened in his cell with a pounding headache. And naked, because they’d removed his clothes and blanket—as well as his mattress and books—as punishment. Many days passed before those comforts were returned, and he hadn’t been permitted outside again for… weeks? Months? He hadn’t been sure.

Abandoning his memories of the past, Des hurried through the doorway and the metal door slid closed. The lock engaged with a decisive thunk.

Series Blurb

For many years the United States government has been aware that Homo sapiens is not the only sentient species inhabiting the country. Some other species were native to the continent, while others immigrated along with humans.

Early on, these nonhuman species (NHS) were largely ignored when they lived peacefully within human communities. At other times they were deemed a threat and local efforts were made to eradicate them. The federal government was not involved in these early efforts.

By the early 20th century, some local law enforcement agencies expressed frustration with their inability to deal effectively with the special needs of NHS. Localized incidents of mass violence occurred in several locations, most notably the Omaha Zombie Epidemic of 1908, the Manchester (New Hampshire) Melusine Drownings of 1911, and the Eugene (Oregon) Sasquatch Riots of 1915.

In response to these incidents, as well as a heightened desire for increased federal control, President Wilson created a new federal agency in 1919 called the Bureau of Trans-Species Affairs. The mission of this agency was to communicate with NHS, to control them, to investigate reported dangerous actions committed by them, and to bring them to justice or eliminate them when necessary.

Since then, the Bureau has been quietly active throughout the United States. Its jurisdiction has expanded to include humans who engage in magical or paranormal activities.

Over the decades, a great many dramas have unfolded among the people who work for the Bureau. The Bureau stories are a collection of these tales. Each involves different protagonists and is set in a different era, yet all focus on the adventures and struggles of the Bureau’s agents. These novellas can be read in any order.

The Bureau Vol. 1 includes the first three books

Corruption

About The Author

Kim Fielding

KIM FIELDING is very pleased every time someone calls her eclectic. A Lambda Award finalist and two-time Foreword INDIE finalist, she has migrated back and forth across the western two-thirds of the United States and currently lives in California, where she long ago ran out of bookshelf space.

She’s a university professor who dreams of being able to travel and write full time. She also dreams of having two daughters who fully appreciate her, a husband who isn’t obsessed with football, and a house that cleans itself. Some dreams are more easily obtained than others.

If the skills they possess and the bond between them isn’t enough, the evil will remain unchallenged, and more people will die…

One hundred years ago, a sheriff’s posse killed dark warlock Rhyfel Gremory, but his witch-disciples escaped, and their magic made them nearly immortal. To keep their power, each year one of the witch-disciples kills a descendant of one of the men in the posse, a twelve-year cycle that has cost dozens of lives, including that of Seth Tanner’s brother, Jesse.

Seth Tanner uncovers the cycle of ritual killings that feeds the power of the witch-disciples, and he’s hell-bent on getting vengeance for Jesse and stopping the murders. His fledgling romantic relationship with Evan Malone complicates his mission, but Seth can’t walk away. Seth and Evan learn to navigate their partnership—as lovers and monster hunters—while they chase down the next witch-disciple and avoid attracting the wrong kind of attention.

When the hunt takes Seth and Evan to Pittsburgh on the trail of the next killer, they’ll have to save the intended victim and take down the powerful witch. If the skills they possess and the bond between them isn’t enough, the evil will remain unchallenged, and more people will die…

Dark Rivers is the second novel in the Witchbane series. It is a MM romance intended for readers 18 years of age and older. Note: Includes mention of past domestic violence and stalking.

About the Author

Morgan Brice is the romance pen name of bestselling author Gail Z. Martin. Morgan writes urban fantasy male/male paranormal romance, with plenty of action, adventure and supernatural thrills to go with the happily ever after.

Gail writes epic fantasy and urban fantasy, and together with co-author hubby Larry N. Martin, steampunk and comedic horror, all of which have less romance, more explosions. Characters from her Gail books make frequent appearances in secondary roles in her Morgan books, and vice versa.

Other books include Witchbane, Burn, Dark Rivers, and Badlands, Lucky Town, and The Rising, plus Treasure Trail. Watch for more in these series, plus new series coming soon!

I’ll be a Featured Author at GRL in October and also at Coastal Magic in February!
