Aspen’s good at grovelling and it’s a good thing too because Brook deserves his apologies

58025210._SY475_Hunter Moon by Sam Burns & W.M. Fawkes

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Aspen’s good at grovelling.

And it’s a good job, because boy does he need to, having left not only his family and Grovetown behind, but also Brook, his teenage sweetheart, when he joined the Navy.

Brook has been through Hell. Pay attention to the trigger warnings, although nothing is given in detail. There are mentions on page to what happened when he was kidnapped by a rival pack.

This second chance romance is, understandably, a slowburn. Although it’s clear from the start that all the feelings which tied the two men together for 10 years before Aspen left – doing what he thought was the best thing for the pack – are still there.

It would be easy for everyone to reject Aspen if he were a douche, but he’s not. Everything he’s done has been out of a good intention, even if the execution has left the opposite result. He knew his younger brother would make a better Pack Alpha, so he took himself out of the equation.

Unfortunately, he hadn’t considered the wider implications and there are lots of people he needs to make it up to when he returns 10 years later.

I really loved the pacing in this book, it feels like it’s slowly drawing you into the intimacy of Aspen and Brook’s rekindled relationship, first simply re-establishing their friendship bonds, but then reigniting the attraction and comfort of knowing they are mates.

Brook, for all he’s an omega, isn’t a weak man, even though he’s dealing with massive trauma and sheltering himself away. When Aspen returns, it means he has to look again at what the effects were from his abduction.

Together they start the healing process and there’s no magic dick cures all in this. It takes time and lots of work from both men.

There’s also movement on the series’ over-arcing plot and a big confrontation with the Reid pack which I won’t go into any detail on.

Suffice it to say, by the book’s end, I was more than happy with where Aspen and Brook’s relationship ends up and champing at the bit for book four!

Gavin Lloyd has been a werewolf for ten months, and he’s still trying to get used to it. He wants to settle into a nice quiet life, running his coffee shop with his pack and learning how to be a werewolf.

But now people are saying he’s some kind of prophesied werewolf messiah. He doesn’t know how they expect him to help them when he hasn’t even figured out how to help himself.

Miles Parker has lived in Kismet, Colorado his whole life, and up till now it’s been nothing but a simple, mundane existence. Then Gavin moved into town, with his sparkling green eyes and ability to make tea lattes like nobody else.

When Miles gets a call to look into a burglary at his boyfriend’s home on the full moon, though, what he finds there sets off a chain of events that will leave his life completely transformed.

And maybe, somewhere along the way, give Gavin the spark he needs.

An omega searching for a safe haven.

The alpha he thought long in his past.

Graham Allen has always thought he was happy with a life of service to the Martingale pack. Not many people pay attention to him, but the alpha allows him to spend all his time in the kitchen he loves. When his old friend Hannah walks back into his life in desperate need of help, Graham knows he can’t turn to his pack. Instead, he has to seek help from the alpha he thought he’d never see again.

Asher Martingale hasn’t spoken to anyone in his birth pack since he left them eight years ago with orders to never return. The last thing he expects is for one of them to show up in his backyard with a woman and child asking for asylum, but he would never turn them away.

The Martingales aren’t willing to let their best cook go so easily, and worse, Ash’s ex is the pack member they send to retrieve him. With two omegas’ lives on the line, can they weather the storm of Ash’s turbulent past and Graham’s dawning understanding that there’s a whole world beyond it?
