Life for Isamu Taylor is now a Cinderella story that includes a Manhattan loft, a new position in the hottest LGBT film production company in New York City, and an upcoming wedding in Bryant Park to his very own handsome prince.

He’s come a long way from that struggling film student with ratty sneakers and shaggy hair. Isamu is now living an urbanite’s fairy tale with that happily ever after just around a bustling city street corner.

But as all wedding planners know, even the best-laid plans seem to go awry, and Isamu and Brian’s wedding is no exception. But love – both old and new – is in the air, so nothing can go too badly, right?

Six months have passed since Dillon and Lang crashed into each other on a crowded street in New York City, changing the course of their lives. Now they’re living together as a couple, happy, in love, but not quite ready to say the words out loud.

Dillon is about to embark on a new adventure—opening a private art school housed in the brownstone left to him by his father. Lang… Lang is becoming ever more aware of the futility of his mission: being caretaker to his clan’s future, when his clan might not survive the war with an opposing faction.

When a flashbulb outside a nightclub on New Year’s Eve temporarily blinds Dillon, the course of their lives is set to change again. Dillon’s perception of how the world works is going to be forever altered, and Lang will have to decide between his mission and the man who has come to mean more to him than he ever thought possible.

It will be up to both of them to chart a new direction, one that holds the balance between being human and alien. A course that might require sacrifices neither of them is willing to make.

About the Author

If aliens ever do land on Earth, Kelly will not be prepared, despite having read over a hundred stories of the apocalypse. Still, she will pack her precious books into a box and carry them with her as she strives to survive. It’s what bibliophiles do.

Kelly is the author of eleven novels–including the Chaos Station series, co-written with Jenn Burke–and several novellas and short stories. Some of what she writes is speculative in nature, but mostly it’s just about a guy losing his socks and/or burning dinner.

Because life isn’t all conquering aliens and mountain peaks. Sometimes finding a happy ever after is all the adventure we need.

Love park 600.jpg

Blurb

Sullivan Haines knows exactly what he wants out of life. Fame as a Broadway dancer and to find the man of his dreams.

Sadly, his love life is a dismal mess, his roommate is PMS personified, and working at a dingy dance studio teaching old people how to tango and foxtrot is not exactly the bright lights.

Actually, life in the Big Apple is pretty rotten, until he and his dog run into tall, dark, and oh-so-handsome Duane Hart in the park. Their pooches hit it right off, but can the two men find romance along the park’s winding paths?

Duane Hart hasn’t had a lot go right in his life. His girlfriend recently broke up with him, taking everything that wasn’t nailed down or in his roommate’s name. Well, everything except the Yorkshire terrier that he didn’t want to get in the first place, and that she now refuses to take back.

However, when he meets a handsome stranger and his pit bull in the dog park, will the blooming heat in his chest be able to convince him to start dating again?

Or will fate prove love isn’t a walk in the park, after all?

Sweet romance with an opposites attract theme and cute dogs

44777434.jpg
Love is a Walk in the Park by V.L. Locey & Stephanie Locey

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Disclaimer: I am a Yorkshire girl, my grandmother used to breed pedigree Yorkshire Terriers, they’re yappy little rats that bite your feet when you’re little.

Having said that, Tiberius is a delight, I loved both the dogs in this somewhat muddled but quite sweet New York set romance.

I’m not sure really quite how to summarise it but Sullivan and Duane make a really cute pair and there are lots of laughs in this story.

For me, the plot got a bit twisted at times. I was never really sure why Sully made such a huge deal out of not wanting to do something (specifically plot related) and it all seemed to get wrapped up rather quickly.

There’s a quirky set of secondary characters to round out the story and I liked Duane’s best mate Ronan and Sully’s bestie and her mum were a riot.

Overall, I think this makes a lovely sweet romance with very little angst and I like the new partnership between Vicki and her daughter.

The stakes are raised for Dillon and Lang in this Sci-Fi romance

purple-haze.jpgPurple Haze by Kelly Jensen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m not sure if this will be the last time we hear from Dillon and Lang but I really hope not because I absolutely love this series from Kelly.

This one had quite a different feel to book one though, with a sense of foreboding beginning fairly early on and just amping up the layers as Dillon’s half alien nature starts to manifest in strange ways.

I loved how Lang reacted in this narrative, he’s protective, he fights against his own inbuilt sense of clan and duty and he’s willing to sacrifice all for his love of Dillon.

There are new characters in play here, old friends as well, and I loved the pacing and the contrast between the lighter, funny moments with Dillon’s mum and gran, and the crushing despair as their whole future looked at risk at times.

Surprising allies and the power of human emotions combine into a finale worthy of the name and an epilogue which is all ends up adorable.

If this is the last book, then Dillon and Lang are left very much in their happy place and so was I when I finished the book.
