Can a new real estate agent negotiate a happy ending with his mysterious client?

Camden
I’m desperately trying to make a fresh start as a real estate agent. Getting a call to list a house while parading as a hot dog for a few bucks seems like my lucky break. Then things go sideways. My apartment is burglarized, and getting caught half-naked while squatting in my own listing is a low point.

Meeting the sexy-voiced stranger who is now my client and realizing he has a gorgeous, cold boyfriend? Major bummer. But hey! I might sell a house … if all the odd questions about my client don’t get in the way.

Reid
I’m a washed up US marshal turned bodyguard, and even that’s lost its appeal. A leave of absence to deal with a house I inherited in Kansas seems like a good opportunity to get my head straight — but when my boss asks me to help a witness being targeted by a gang, I decide to take him with me.

The guy is a criminal, but he’s young and gay, so we set up a cover as a couple. Of course, I wasn’t counting on the gorgeous real estate agent who makes me want something more in my life. When he starts asking questions, do I set him straight or risk losing him for good? And then there’s still those gang members to think about …

Story includes inappropriate attire, gunfights, flirting while in a fake relationship and male/male naughtiness.

Will love persevere when the truth comes out?

Lee

I changed my name, but I can’t change what I did. My brothers died, and I spent three years in witness protection. Returning to Fields, where I once hid out, feels right. Seeing Miguel again feels even better. But when a dead body interrupts my tour of a building for sale, my start isn’t as fresh as I’d like.

Miguel

I’ve been trying to curb my habit of leaping into bad relationships, but when Lee comes back to town, he’s hard to resist. Kids are dying, and life’s too short to shy away from a good thing. But will Lee’s mysterious past come back to bite me?

Between police questioning and trials of trust, it’s far from smooth sailing. If we don’t figure out who’s selling synthetic drugs and convince the police Lee is not their man, we may all have a severe case of buyer’s remorse.

Buyer’s Remorse includes hurt/comfort, second-chance romance, and mystery themes.

Author Bio

DJ Jamison is the author of more than a dozen m/m romances, including the Ashe Sentinel series and the Hearts and Health series. She writes a variety of queer characters, from gay to bisexual to asexual, with a focus on telling love stories that are more about common ground than lust at first sight.

She grew up in the Midwest in a working-class family, and those influences can be found in her writing through characters coping with real-life problems: money troubles, workplace drama, family conflicts and, of course, falling in love.

DJ spent more than a decade in the newspaper industry before chasing her first dream to write fiction. She spent a lifetime reading before that and continues to avidly devour her fellow authors’ books each night. She lives in Kansas with her husband, two sons, two fish and, regrettably, one snake.

Kasia Bacon round-up – this author blows me away!

The Highlander (The Order #2)The Highlander by Kasia Bacon

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

How does she do it?! How does Kasia manage to impart a richly detailed world, brimming with wit, emotions and feelings, into such a small number of pages?

This book takes up where The Mutt left off and we get a glimpse into Lochan’s head as he tries to rationalise his feelings and put them aside out of fear he’ll be left hurt when he ultimately ends up alone.

There’s real skill needed to add this level of depth to a short story and this one has it in spades. I need to know what happens next with these two.

The Poison Within (Inspector Skaer, #1)The Poison Within by Kasia Bacon

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kasia Bacon is a bloody genius, I don’t care what anyone else thinks, her ability to craft such detailed glimpses into a richly populated and living world is incredible.

She is a wordsmith of the highest order and this one, set in the same world but featuring different characters than The Mutt and The Highlander, is another triumph.

The thinly disguised mirroring of what’s been happening in our ‘real’ world cleverly plays out against a backdrop of how far people are willing to go for those they love.

It’s brilliant and I want more.

So, Goodreads in their wisdom, deleted my original review of this one, so here’s the new one as well!

A Late Bite to EatA Late Bite to Eat by Kasia Bacon

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Right Goodreads, not sure what poor Kasia Bacon did to you to have this book listing pulled and all the reviews lost, but here’s mine again, with a few additional flowery words.

I’m running out of fancy words to write when it comes to this author but, for me, the mark of a great one is the introduction of a new character in passing that I want to know more about.

Eryssa was that character in The Poison Within and the furia gives up a little of her inner thoughts in this fabulous flash fic, and now I want to know more about the Order’s healer, briefly introduced in this one, and Lochan’s dad Lu, Grand Master of The Order.

Kasia Bacon is, in my eyes, one of the finest proponents of the short story that I’ve had the joy to read. How she does what she does in so few words absolutely staggers me.

Eryssa is a fascinating mix of temptress and concerned lover and I found the duality of her nature was put on the page with incredible skill. I adore this series of books and cannot wait to get more.

Blessing and LightBlessing and Light by Kasia Bacon

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give up. Really, this book is less than 5k words and yet it encompasses everything I needed to know about this corner of Kasia’s fabulous world and these two new characters who are drawn with such an incredibly light touch I feel like I’ve already known them all their lives.

This is serious talent. The UST in this one was strung out at just the right rate and the ending was just beautiful. Sometimes you don’t need to see everything on the page to know just how connected two people can be.
