The Devoted Alpha Cover

An awkward, traumatized omega and a patient alpha determined to court him properly… fate has a way of righting old wrongs.

Stolen from his mother’s arms and reported stillborn at birth, Tom spent nearly twenty-one years in structured captivity with other stolen omegas. His brothers. A dozen omegas, each with a secret superpower, who now must learn a whole new skill—how to thrive in a modern world.

Not every brother emerged from their past unscathed, and Tom had the worst of it. His key to survival was a healthy respect for rules. Now that he’s free, he’s still a little bit obsessive and a whole lot compulsive. He’s got anxiety, fear of change… and a list of plans for his future.

None of which involved finding a fated mate.

But if they had? His plans definitely wouldn’t have been to meet his dream alpha while smelling of afterbirth and the blood of an enemy killed in defense of his pregnant brother—the same brother whose child he then had to deliver… post-shift and naked.

If he’d been planning, if he’d made a list and checked it twice, Tom never could’ve designed an alpha more perfectly devoted than the delicious one fate put in front of him during one of the craziest days of his life… an alpha so patient, he insists on courting the skittish omega.

The West Coast Wolves is an mpreg series about five alphas. A small pack of bikers who spent years riding the highways and helping those in need until fate gave them each a pack to lead. This 85k full-length novel is Nick’s story. Prepare yourself for a romantic courtship, a perfect first kiss, and more feels and giggles than you can handle. But then again, this is a Susi Hawke book so what else can you expect?

Possible triggers for child abduction, trafficking both past and present, and haunting memories of past abuse that included both humiliation and the non-penetrative molestation of a teenager by a person in authority.

Teaser 2

As much as I wanted to see what happened next with them, the crying baby drew my attention. Exactly like Wilson had described, the baby was in a fucking cage. A metal crate used to kennel dogs. A little boy with white-blond hair huddled beside it, his fingers curled around the bars. He was desperately begging the baby to stop crying while the two big men stood nearby, loudly threatening them pain if they didn’t shut up.

The one closest to the boy drew a massive fist and stepped closer, turning my blood cold. I didn’t know whether he would actually do it or was merely threatening.

I took a chance and stepped into the room, motioning for Tom and his brothers to follow. “I need you to distract the little boy so he doesn’t see that fucker die.”

At once, two fire sprinklers went off, one in the kitchen, the other in the main living/auction area. Water sprayed up from the sink like a geyser—and things went weird. The water in the main area poured at an angle on everyone fighting, as if an invisible finger was aiming a garden hose with a sprayer attachment. Somehow, the computer equipment wasn’t harmed.

Circus music played in the background, but I didn’t stop to listen. I was too busy trying to make sense of seeing the impossible in the kitchen. All the water in the room, from the fridge door, the sprinkler, and the sink, aimed toward each other and merged together, forming a clear wall between the pups and the guards.

The one who would’ve punched the boy backed away, tripping over his own feet as he desperately scrambled around the counter. The other guard shifted on the spot and ran.

Before the asshat who thought he could punch a child could flee, I pulled the trigger. I’d needed him away from the boys so I could fire. He made it around the counter, took another step, and then dropped when my bullet met his head.

It wasn’t as satisfying as ripping out his throat, then stuffing it with the fist he’d been so ready to use, but I figured I’d get over the disappointment.

A pair of avenging wolves took out the other guy. Watching him get torn apart was almost enough to sate my wolf after his partner’s too-easy death.

I wanted to keep track of the fight and see how many of the fuckers were left, but I felt compelled to keep an eye on the boys as if they were my own. Tom grabbed my arm, getting my attention before I could look again. He nodded in their direction with a watery smile. “What do you think of our distraction? Betcha that pup won’t have any nightmares.”

Glancing back toward the kitchen, my mouth fell open. A swarm of butterflies—huge-ass, Disney cartoon, zip-a-dee-fucking-doo-dah butterflies in every color of the rainbow—fluttered over and around the baby and the little boy. They twirled in the air, dancing just out of reach while circus music played. Hearing it, I smiled. The music made it harder for the boys to hear all the snarling and growling as death happened on the other side of their island counter.

About the Author

I’m a happily married mom of one snarky teenage boy, and three grown “kids of my heart.” As a reader and big romance fan myself, I love sharing the stories of the different people who live in my imagination.

My stories are filled with humor, a few tears, and the underlying message to not give up hope, even in the darkest of times, because life can change on a dime when you least expect it. This theme comes from a lifetime of lessons learned on my own hard journey through the pains of poverty, the loss of more loved ones than I’d care to count, and the struggles of living through chronic illnesses. Life can be hard, but it can also be good!

Through it all I’ve found that love, laughter, and family can make all the difference, and that’s what I try to bring to every tale I tell.

A former king must learn to compromise or lose his mate forever.

Living in a grand castle is awesome. To avoid his worries, Casersis takes Dustin on dates. If Dustin is busy having fun, he can’t hound Casersis for why he’s always so sad. Or so Casersis thinks.

When Casersis and Dustin accidentally soulbond, neither of them are prepared. Dustin isn’t fully an elf yet. The soulbond’s ancient magic ravages Dustin’s body, sending him into random fits of excruciating pain. And if they don’t find a way to compromise about Dustin’s freedom, it may just be too late.

This 70,000-word non-shifter omegaverse novel is set in a world where mPreg (male pregnancy) is a fact of life. However, this series does not end with a baby or pregnancy.

“Something wrong, Kev?”

He smirked. “Dad’s being a shit.”

“Yeah. I’ve noticed that, too.”

Kevin snorted and shifted until his ankle rested on his opposite knee. “I’ve tried to tune it out, but his avoidance is driving even me nuts. I don’t see how you put up with it.”

I sighed and saved my work. After powering down the workstation, I slumped down in the comfortable desk chair and rubbed my eyes with my thumb and forefinger. “Mostly because I can almost feel how distressed it makes him. Cass wants to tell me, but it’s like he can’t. It’s killing him, but I just don’t know how to pry it out of him without losing my cool and getting in a fight with him. I want to help him, not push him away.”

Groaning, I thumped my head back against the chair and stared at the ceiling. “I’d ask you if you knew what was wrong with him, but even if you knew, I’d want Cass to be the one to tell me. I just hate how he’s making himself miserable by keeping it locked away and how it’s making me miserable because when I ask, he shuts me out or changes the subject thinking I don’t know what he’s doing.”

Kevin grunted and ran a hand over his short hair. “I wish I knew, kid. If I did, I’d at least let you know if it was something stupid you needed to drag out of him, or if it was something important that you needed to be patient for.”

“Either way, it’s important,” I said softly. “Whether it’s important to us or not, it’s important to him, or he’d have spilled his guts long before now. He wouldn’t continue letting it torture him. Or, at least, I hope that would be the case.”

Kevin nodded. “I hope so, too.”

About the Author

If there’s one thing Devon likes most, it’s chaos. She has a chaotic mind, messy house, and throws her characters into every calamitous situation possible. When she isn’t writing, she’s editing or formatting other authors’ works, building websites, creating graphics, reading, playing video games, or watching Fortnite streams on Twitch. She likes to stay busy. So yes. Chaos.

Starting in 2003, Devon turned her writing bug away from poetry and online role play in chat rooms to write her first novel. Yes, it was trash, but the process of learning to edit that piece of garbage spurred her to learn more and more. By 2013, she read an author by the name of Raythe Reign, and somehow, Raythe’s stories finally made all that learning in Devon’s mind click. She wrote her first semi-salable book in two weeks. The next in ten days, and by the beginning of 2014, had seven books written.

Were they all trash? No, but she’s in the process of rewriting them, and has already written one, turning Duty and Sacrifice into three books of a nine-book series, The God Jars Saga. Those three books were followed by more, and the last two books in the series will be published in the first quarter of 2019.

Born on a Navy base in Patuxent River, Maryland, Devon has traveled the world, living in Sigonella, Sicily for three years, and visiting many European countries before moving back to the states around the age of seven. She’s lived in Florida for sixteen years, Oklahoma for a year, and Pennsylvania for the rest.

She graduated from surgical technology school near the top of her class in 2004, and uses her medical and worldly knowledge to enrich her books whenever possible. Being the worldly woman she is, and having spent most of her teens as a broody goth, Devon has four tattoos, nine piercings, loves techno, electronica, dubstep, and similar music genres, and has an incurable internet addiction.

She builds her own computers, can’t stand Mac-anything unless it’s to format books in Vellum, and purple and black are her favorite colors, though that can change to burgundy and gray depending on the day. Since she has bipolar disorder, PTSD, social anxiety disorder, general anxiety disorder, clinical depression, and has trouble leaving her house due to all that, Devon works full time as an author and editor, and spends as much time as she can talking to other authors and her readers.

Definitely my favourite yet in the West Coast Wolves

The Devoted Alpha CoverThe Devoted Alpha by Susi Hawke

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

I liked this one the best so far. It had a more rounded out narrative with a focus on the continued story of the stolen omegas from book two.

While I still think the unique connection between the five alphas in their biker crew should have been a bigger part of the series in general, this book felt less like a simple omegaverse romance and a bit more of an investigation focused narrative.

I really liked Tom too, his analytical mind protecting him from the trauma of his captivity but still being self aware enough to know he could find new ways to move on.

Nick was super sweet too, very much the devoted alpha of the title.

Now I’m interested to see if it’ll be Devon and Sky next, or if we get Tucker’s story.
