Just absolutely fabulous storytelling

I want to gush on and on about how brilliant this book is, how much I fell in love with Honeybridge and the people who live there.

I want to wax lyrical about the perfect way May and Lucy introduced JT and Flynn, about the rivalry between the Honeycutts and the Wellbridges.

I want to praise the use of humour, the UST and the pining, the fratching and the surrendering, the insanely hot sex and the emotionally charged lovemaking, the realisation of a bone deep knowledge that you’ve found your ever after.

This book has all the above and so much more that my words can’t do it justice. This was simply much my kind of book it’s heading into the top 10 of my favourites.

A delightful ending to this lovely series

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I don’t have much knowledge about asexuality but from the little I do have, I was fully on board with Noah’s dawning awareness of his feelings for Levi.

It’s been a journey to reach the happy ending for these two lovely men as we’ve seen each of their best friends fully in love.

But it was worth the wait and K.C. signs off this series with a lovely slow-burning romance which has all the feels.

There’s also revelations which bring new changes and challenges to Levi and Grammy and they add some tension to the narrative without messing around with the growing feelings between Noah and Levi.

This is a really wonderful way to draw attention to the found family aspect that’s been a hallmark of the series and it’s a fitting way to draw it to a close.

I’ve very much enjoyed reading each of the seven books that make up the Maine Men world and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Excerpt

Joel closed the front door behind him before unfastening Bramble’s leash. “You had to go running off, didn’t you? You had to go talk to your doggy pals.” Bramble gazed at him with those liquid brown eyes, his tail thumping on the floor, and Joel realized he was fighting a losing battle. He could never stay mad at this dog for long. He rubbed Bramble’s ears. “Just don’t do it again, okay?”

Bramble’s soft woof might have been Okay, but Joel would lay even money it was more a case of hey, why are you complaining? You got to meet a hot guy, didn’t you?

There was no denying it—Finn was hot, from the sweep of his hair off his brow, to those gunmetal eyes, the color of the ocean during a storm, to that scruffy beard and barely-there mustache. And then there was his build: the heavy coat might have hidden his frame, but it was obvious Finn was not a slight man, capable of being blown away by a stiff breeze.

It was no surprise to Joel that the word stiff came to mind. And now that he knew where Finn lived, Joel would keep an eye out for him when he took Bramble for a walk.

Down boy. You don’t know anything about him—except that he’s hot.

K.C. Wells lives on an island off the south coast of the UK, surrounded by natural beauty. She writes about men who love men, and can’t even contemplate a life that doesn’t include writing.
