The His series comes to a beautiful conclusion with this opposites attract romance

His HavenHis Haven by Con Riley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh my Keir, how much do I love you!

And Mitch, you utterly perfect rogue, you knew just what Keir needed and how to get him out of his own head.

I’ll just disclaimer here to say, as with the previous books, I alpha read this one and so it holds a very special place in my heart.

Even before I got involved with Con’s work, I’ve adored the lyrical way she writes and I think with His Haven, she’s hit the pinnacle of beautiful storytelling.

Keir is so in need of Mitch, even though he fights his hardest against the attraction. He’s wounded, hurting and so lost, even while he drives himself into his work to stop feeling lonely.

Mitch has spent his life caring for others, a youthful mistake giving him a lifetime of guilt he just can’t shake no matter how much his work as a brain trauma specialist PT gives back.

Theirs is a complex narrative, there’s lots going on with this story, but it’s all intertwined so neatly that the reader never gets lost in the process. There are obviously close ties to His Compass as Mitch is Justin’s full-time support, Keir is Nicky’s lawyer and biggest supporter.

We get to see more of their happy ending, and a brief flying visit with Jude and Rob, who are still fully loved up at their new bijou hotel venture.

The Cornish setting is as vivid as ever, The Haven and the people there are as much a part of the story as the landscape and the experiences Keir and Mitch go through. There’s humour, of course, which stops things ever getting too mawkish.

The His series has been wonderful, but Keir and Mitch are absolutely, hands down, my favourite pairing, although Charles and HHH (and yes I’m being sneaky with my insider knowledge of what’s coming next from Con 😁) are giving them a real run for the money atm.

Oh, and the wee Easter Egg in the Epilogue, that just caps it all off.

Blurb

The three of us were never impossible. We were always inevitable.

When Drew meets Ezra, he doesn’t expect much. A one-night stand and a quick goodbye in the morning. That’s how these things usually go. Only there’s nothing usual about Ezra and the connection that forms between them.

When Ezra meets Drew, he doesn’t expect much. A distraction and parting as strangers after a night of meaningless fun. That’s how these things usually go. Only there’s nothing meaningless about Drew and the relentless spark between them that just refuses to disappear.

When Bas meets Ezra… things get complicated. As if being hopelessly in love with his best friend isn’t painful enough. Throw in an unexpected friendship that develops with the one-time hookup of said best friend, and the results are messy at best.

But sometimes beautiful things emerge from messy and complicated beginnings, and where two isn’t enough, three might be just perfect.

Teaser

“Wow. Hot.” Bas tilted his head up and murmured the words into Drew’s ear. And just because he was Bas, he also took his sweet time giving Ezra a slow once over.

“That’s him,” Drew said.

Bas’s brows shot up as he concentrated his attention back on Drew. “Ezra?”

Another spike of lust shot through Drew’s body at the way Bas’s tongue curled around the name, managing to make the word sound like a dirty promise.

“Yeah.”

“Go talk to him.”

Drew pulled away to stare at Bas. “What?”

Bas peered over Drew’s shoulder at Ezra. “And better hurry. It doesn’t look like he’s planning to stick around.”

Drew whirled back toward Ezra, and as if on que, saw the back of Ezra’s head as the man made his way toward the exit through the crowd.

“Go.” Bas was laughing as he gave Drew a push.

About The Author

Briar Prescott is a work in progress. She swears too much, doesn’t eat enough leafy greens and binge watches too much television. It’s okay, though. One of these days she’ll get a hang of that adulting thing.

Probably.

Maybe.

She hopes.

This book is a brilliant addition to the Fog City series.

56969930._SY475_Queen’s Ransom by Layla Reyne

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a brilliant addition to the Fog City series.

Its star pair also take a place on the Shelf of Hotness just the same as their respective brothers did in the first three entries.

Queen’s Ransom firmly puts the focus on the women at the heart of the Perri and Madigan families as they dance around the attraction between them.

I was fascinated by the sparks flying between Celia and Helena every time they met and here they finally explode 😁

The romance is a mix of frustrations and feelings, Helena takes a while to get her head in the game, although it’s pretty clear her heart’s already invested.

There’s only a couple of smexy times but they are definitely heated and full of passion.

Their second garage encounter in particular demonstrates perfectly the push and pull between the two women.

They work their way up to a steamy set of orgasms that starts with a heated kiss on a dolly, skirts the top of Whiskey Walker’s vintage car, and ends up with them wrung out in a panting heap in the office.

Helena’s fears about the dangers anyone who gets involved with her family might face were a driving force throughout.

And they came into a full on collision with Cee’s waste of space ex husband Dex.

Anyone who’s read the other books knows how dangerous Helena is, but Cee’s no weakling either.

So when someone shoots up her garage after she and Helena’s first kiss, she’s not willing to just sit back.

I really liked the suspense element of the plot. It worked for me within the narrative, it flowed well, mingling adrenaline rush moments with nerve tingling tension points.

I won’t go into depth, I don’t want to spoil the clever way Layla intertwines the two families together with a shared threat.

And while Chris and Hawes are getting closer to their wedding and are as strong as ever, Brax and Holt are struggling and my heart was breaking at their interactions.

Their book is going to round off the Fog City series and I absolutely cannot wait for that.

We also get a few Easter Egg name drops for Layla’s other San Francisco set romantic suspense series’ and it made me smile every time.

I don’t think it’s easy to throw a different pairing romance into an established MM series but it absolutely works here imho.
