Blurb

Life in foster care wasn’t easy. Life after prison? Unforgiving. But I’m determined to stay out of trouble, and I’m gaining a foothold on the closest I’ve ever known to normal.

Then, thanks to a pair of escape artist dogs from the sanctuary where I’ve found work, I cross paths with my boss’s neighbor, Ty Adams. He’s a horse trainer, and winter is his quiet season. It’s also the season when he gets restless and lonely—two things I know all about. He’s not interested in love or romance. I’m just happy someone’s interested in me at all, even if emotions are strictly forbidden.

When we’re not together, I’m thinking about him. When we are together… Well, I’m definitely thinking about what he does to me and what I want to do with him.

As we keep each other warm through the Vermont winter, this feels a lot more than physical. Somehow he soothes my pain, and I wonder if I’m touching something deep inside him too. But Ty won’t let himself love anyone. I never had a chance. And now, with my past closing in, I could lose the one man I hoped I could count on. The one I thought might be different.

When his present and my history collide, is it too much to hope he’ll choose me?

CW: Sick horse and a minor accident involving a horse—no animal deaths or serious injuries/illnesses.

About The Author

L.A. witt logo

Of course, it would seem a bit silly to have a single site for multiple authors who aren’t collaborating, but therein lies the rub: we’re all the same person.

Yes, yes, it’s true.

But why use multiple names?  Simple: Different names write in different genres.

L.A. Witt writes almost exclusively gay male romance (including everything from contemporary to science fiction), plus some trans*/genderqueerLauren Gallagher writes heterosexuallesbian, and bisexual romances.

Lori A. Witt sticks to sci fi/fantasy and mainstream suspense (both of which may contain some LGBT and/or romantic elements, but are predominantly SFF). Ann Gallagher writes sweet romances and young adult, including asexual romances.

And finally, Diana Fyre writes horror (coming soon). So the different names just help readers quickly find the stories that interest them without needing to search through genres that don’t.

This is the place for updates and info about me, myself, and I…or, more importantly, the books.

I always love hearing from readers, so feel free to e-mail me or follow me on Twitter.

Two very different men find love and healing in this great romance

UnderdogWitt_ebookUnderdog by L.A. Witt

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Following on from her last entry featuring former sports start Brant and single dad Jon, we get the story of their neighbour, horse trainer Ty.

One thing’s for sure about this book, Lori knows her horses, the level of detail is excellent but never overdone.

I loved how the horses, with their unique personalities, were as involved in the story as Ty and former convict Landon are.

Both men frustrated me intensely at times, Ty with his stubborn determination that he couldn’t have a relationship because of his business, Landon because of his feelings of unworthiness.

The main antagonist element of the plot I spotted a mile off, but Lori still does a good job at weaving in the tension leading up to the crisis point.

Sexual UST is high between the two men and when they do finally get it on, there’s some really lovely and emotionally driven intimacy.

The Epilogue is an absolute delight and had me smiling for ages after I’d finished reading.

RJ delivers an emotionally satisfying romance which hit all my favourite tropes

W02 Summer Drifter jpgSummer Drifter by R.J. Scott

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

Ooh that was well worth the wait!

I love it when RJ writes cowboys, especially when they come along with a big dose of hurt/comfort and wounded souls like this one does.

Both Levi and Quinn have serious issues over bad parenting, abandonment and feelings of worthiness, but they couldn’t be more different if they tried.

It was great to be back at the Lennox Ranch and see that Micah and Daniel are still going strong, Rachel and Scott are happy and that life is traveling in the right direction for them all after the events of Winter Cowboy.

This story had lots of my favourite tropes as well as the opposites attract theme, Levi is a rough and tough guy, but he’s hiding a need to be on his knees for someone who’ll let him give up control.

Quinn might look like he’d be blown over by a strong wind but he has a core of steel and the gymnastic flexibility and self-defence awareness to look after not only himself but to be everything Levi needs.

The secrets Quinn is hiding form the majority of the tension points in the narrative, there’s a bit of “toing and froing” between the two men but it never becomes onerous.

It’s medium steamy with a fair amount of UST and the one full on smexy scene we get is powerfully emotive, as Quinn edges Levi into giving in to his desire to submit. It’s hot 😉

But overall, this is an emotional romance, feelings of guilt warring with a need to belong, fears of giving in to change and ultimately, hope and longing for a happy ending. The Epilogue is a wonderful drawing of a close to this part of their lives and a solid step into that future.

Now, I’m wondering if Chris will be next and whether Connor might be on the cards for him or if Sheriff Neil is going to win out there?!
