Best one yet and a truly beautiful romance

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As ever, I beta read this for Beth but this is probably the entry that I had the smallest amount of commentary on because this is, hands down, my favourite in all the Food Truck Warriors series (so far! Ren is up next so who knows 😁 )

Most of that is down to both Shaw and Ross being so utterly perfect for each other.

Shaw is everything you’d ever want to have not only in a book boyfriend, but as a friend too. He’s kindness personified, he listens without judgement, and he’s sexy as Hell!

Ross though, my poor broken Ross.

Oh he needed someone to see him, to really see him, and then to hold a mirror in front of him which showed what a wonderful person he truly is, not the shattered soul he’s been left after so much betrayal.

I LOVE these two individually but as a pair they own my heart. Their friendship is wonderful, but when things move between the sheets, well they light up like a bonfire on July 4th!

It’s wonderful to see how Ross’ begins to get his confidence and his confusion over his feelings for Shaw are so sweet, it’s clear Ross knows what he feels is more than friendship, but he’s not had the experience to be able to put a name to what it is.

Until the moment he realises it’s love and then I just got all swoony 😁😍

It was also lovely to see the rest of the Food Truck gang go out of their way to try and include Ross more, even Tony, as they realised he’d been as much a victim of his insane former partner’s actions as Ash was – (see Full Speed Ahead for details of that!

Also Ren in this book is fabulous and I can not wait now for his book which will, if all goes as expected, finally wrap up this brilliant series from Beth.

A very fond farewell to the Food Truck Warriors as the series ends on a high note

57829928._SY475_Full Speed Ahead by Beth Bolden

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As ever, I beta read this book for Beth, but most of my comments ran along the lines of I love this, why are they being idiots, oh it’s about time and thank gawd for that!

This is definitely my favourite book in what has been a truly wonderful series from Beth.

It’s also one of the hottest, oh my lordy once these two get together, it’s smoking. It just takes them a wee while because before that, they have to have a whole mess of feelings first!

There is a very clever tension brought to the narrative because of something in Ash’s past which no-one is privy to – except for Lennox – and then things change.

Not only do Tony’s worst enemies, the guys from the Salad Truck who stole his dressing recipe, get permission to join the Truck Warriors lot, but weird things start happening. There’s vandalism, other trucks apart from Ash’s are graffitied and the past he’s tried to walk away from, comes rushing back.

There are also additional hurdles to climb because Lennox has been badly hurt before, he’s also spent time in the Military hiding who he was and how important someone was to him, and then he became an afterthought.

My heart hurt so bad for him, I wanted to wrap him up in cotton wool, although he’s a tough as nails security nut really, quite capable of looking after himself, but he’s so vulnerable. And Ash sees that and he nurtures it and they’re glorious together.

Then the proverbial hits the fan. I won’t go into the nitty gritty, let’s just say I was shouting at Ash and telling him not to do what he does. But, it’s also absolutely indicative of his character for the way he acts.

He lives his life believing the best of people and puts his trust where he thinks its deserved, even when the reader can see something isn’t quite right.

Ultimately though, the narrative flows beautifully throughout the book and into the final chapters and it has a very satisfying conclusion. I’m hoping there will be spin-offs as there are a number of characters, one in particular from this book that I’m not revealing, who I NEED to find their happy endings.

So keeping my fingers crossed for those. I’m also hoping there may be more food related releases from Beth to come as she has such a real talent of incorporating that element into her books without ever making it feel like the only hook the stories have.

Time to say bye for now to LA’s finest set of food providers and see what comes next!

A combination of fake relationship and second chances makes this a winner

56241486Hit the Brakes by Beth Bolden

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read this book so long ago as I beta read it for Beth but it’s still as clear as day to me.

It fits perfectly into Beth’s wider universe for any reader who is familiar with the rest of her books.

But it’s also a good standalone for those who don’t know who Colin O’Connor is (foolish people, he’s the best, go read Rainbow Clause immediately! 🥰 ) as he makes a special guest appearance.

And if you haven’t read Wyatt/Ryan’s Kitchen Gods romance or the other Riptide NFL books there’s still enough explanation given to root the narrative for Chase and Tate’s romance.

It’s a beautiful second chances relationship between two guys who almost kissed in one confused encounter in high school before going their separate ways.

Now 10 years later Chase is an NFL star with the Riptide and Tate is running his food truck and struggling to keep it going.

He has a chance to join the Food Truck Warriors but only if he can demonstrate higher sales

His sister realises superstar Chase is the same guy Tate had a crush on and launches a social media campaign making it sound like he loves their grilled cheese sandwich.

Chase reconnects with Tate, but this time he isn’t running away. He proposes a “fake boyfriend” scheme to help with Tate’s sales, and all bets are off.

Their sexual exploration and emotional connection really is on fire and there’s loads of humour in this one.

It’s probably the funniest so far as Tate fights against his feelings, which are all still just waiting to burst out.

It’s not all plain sailing though, Chase has a self-destructive streak which pops up whenever he’s under stress and he explodes big time when he’s challenged on his motivation for ‘coming out’ by a fellow gay NFL player.

Apart from Colin and Nick, these two make a great case for beating Heath and Sam into second place as my faves from Beth.

There’s just something truly wonderful about people finding love in a place where they almost had it, except for circumstances.

The Food Truck Warriors are all utterly brilliant and just wait till you get book three 😉
