The Unbreakable Bonds Series follows the close friendship of four men — Lucas, Snow, Rowe, and Ian — as their lives are forever changed when a dark shadow from their past resurfaces to extract revenge.

The quartet has been drawn together through a series of struggles, tragic events, and triumphs. They have learned to lean and depend on each other through the years for their survival.

But will their friendship survive the painful events that are set to unfold?

A Quick Catch Up With Rowe & Andrei

Chatting with Rowe & Andrei from Unbreakable Bonds

by Jocelynn Drake

Hello, everyone! Thanks so much for letting me stop by and share my love of the Unbreakable Bonds series.

The first book, Shiver, was released more than five years ago, and we’ve recently decided to recover the series to reflect the changing times and tastes of readers.

Over eight novels, four short story collections, and lots of random tales, Rinda Elliott and I have taken readers on a journey of explosions, danger, angst, and love with Lucas, Snow, Rowe, and Ian.

Today, I thought we’d have some characters answer a couple of reader questions.

Rowe is the owner of Ward Security and former military with an expertise in chaos. Noah is his lover and also former military.

For Rowe – Which is better C4 or Duct Tape?

Rowe: (claps his hands together and rubs them) Is this like a tasting? Do I get to test out some samples before making a decision?

Noah: (chuckling) Is there any duct tape or C4 that you haven’t tested out?

Rowe: Probably not, but you can’t blame a guy for trying.

Noah: I guess not. Though, I think there’s some scented duct tape we haven’t gotten our hands on yet.

Rowe: That sucks. But back to the question, I like both. Each has its uses. Blowing up a building? C4.

Noah: Restraining a bad guy? Duct tape.

Rowe: Restraining a friend? Duct tape.

Noah: Distracting a bad guy? C4.

Rowe: Distracting your neighbor when you’re trying to steal his ugly political signs from his front yard? C4.

Noah: Fixing a hole? Duct tape.

Rowe: Really? I would have said lube.

Noah: (snickering) Can’t take you anywhere.

Andrei is the COO of Ward Security, former bodyguard, and former MMA fighter. Lucas is his husband and former client.

For Andrei – How much wrangling do you have to do at work?

Andrei: (chuckling to himself) Well, every job has its good days and bad days.

Rowe: You’re not off to a good start.

Lucas: I’m sure you have nothing to do with there being bad days.

Rowe: Hey! I’m an excellent boss.

Lucas: And an excellent source of chaos and destruction.

Andrei: So, as you might have guessed, part of my job is a mediator between the swirling bouts of insanity. I’ve taken over a lot of the day-to-day operations from Rowe, such as hiring, organizing training, and managing a lot of the overall scheduling with Noah. Rowe is supposed to be focused on big-picture planning like navigating the overall direction of the company.

Rowe: Even though Andrei is the one with all the expansion ideas. I say he gets that from his husband, who has this need to take over the world.

Lucas: Whatever.

Rowe: You’re just short a white cat and an eyepatch, Dr. Evil.

Andrei: He is right, baby. You do want to take over the world. (Leaning in, he brushes a kiss along Lucas’s jaw.) But, generally, it’s not much different from most jobs, except the guns, fighting, explosives—

Rowe: And occasional slightly teeny tiny illegal stuff, but all in the name of protecting good people and stopping bad people.

Andrei: That’s why I’ve got the lawyers on speed dial.

Luck has never been on Lamark’s side.

After his father’s untimely death, the new captain casts Lamark off the ship, leaving him in a dinghy in the middle of the ocean. Lamark is sure his life is over.

In a stroke of luck, Lamark encounters a merman, who saves him from drowning and brings him to a deserted island. Lamark quickly learns that on this mysterious island, not everything is as it seems, and danger lurks in every nook. This island may very well be the death of him.

Adventure, romance, and maybe some swashbuckling await Lamark, so long as he’s not too lily-livered to venture into the deep…

Into the Deep is a 45k pirate fantasy adventure novel with a heavy helping of slapstick comedy and a sweet, steamy m/m romance.

Today I’m delighted to welcome Amara Lynn to the blog with an interview about her latest release Into The Deep.

As one might be able to tell from the blurb, Lamark is cursed with bad luck! Much of the inspiration for Lamark came from Jack Sparrow, however, I also wanted to create a character that was relatable and different from Jack.

One of the first things I decided was that Lamark was the epitome of a horrible pirate. You may recall the famous line from the first Pirates film: You are by far the worst pirate I’ve heard of. That was the biggest inspiration for Lamark.

While Jack was a horrible pirate, and a bit clumsy, it’s obvious that he actually knows what he’s doing (some of the time anyways). With Lamark, my goal was to make a pirate that was not only a horrible pirate, but also a definition of irony. In that spirit, one of the first things I decided was he couldn’t swim.

So now we have this klutz of a pirate, who can’t swim, who can’t do anything right. This made for some very fun and interesting situations!

When creating my characters, I also like give them some of myself. I find that it makes them easier to get into when writing, and makes them more relatable for my readers. I’m also not a very coordinated person, so writing a clumsy character was easy for me. I also decided Lamark should look a bit plain, so he has brown hair and eyes (more brown eyed characters!).

Another major theme of the book that many people may be able to relate to is dealing with the loss of a family member, as Lamark loses his dad at the beginning of the story. I drew on my own experience for this as well.

But sad bits aside, I give Lamark some reprieve from his misfortunes in the form of a beautiful merman to keep him company! To counter the constant trouble Lamark gets himself into, I wanted to have a sweet romance that was light-hearted and pure (but also steamy!) for readers to sink into.

I hope you’ll enjoy this fun adventure with my clumsy pirate boy and his merman!
