Let Me In is sexy in all the right places but a bit dramatic!

Let Me In CoverLet Me In by Luna David

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I must admit, I thought there’d be more of the kink but instead what I got was a truly lovely May to December romance between two vastly different people who were perfect for each other.

There is, of course, kink and it’s pretty well done as I’d expect from this author, and the Daddy/boy dynamic is a vital part of the narrative.

It’s a bit angsty and there’s a whole load of dramatics which seems to exist to create the necessary tension required with the plot but, other than that, this is a sweet romance.

I won’t lie, I would have liked more of the “taboo” kinks referred to in their contract but the one on page scene was suitably sexy with enough added “forbidden” spice.

I’m interested in seeing where this new series goes.

Action packed adrenalin rush of a romance

EDIT: April 20. Rinda and Jocelynn have issued an apology over the use of the word Shylock in Deadly Dorian. You can read it here: http://drakeandelliott.com/2018/04/sincere-apologies/

Deadly Dorian (Ward Security, #3)Deadly Dorian by Jocelynn Drake & Rinda Elliott

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So Royce & Marc came this >< close to taking top spot on my most favourites list of Rinda & Jocelynn couples up until Rowe’s Mrs Peacock moment.

Then he firmly secured his and Noah’s existing place as reining champions in two series’ of books which just tick pretty much every one of my boxes.

The last 25% of this book is the sort of adrenaline rush you usually get from a big screen thriller and the plot races along, paying a lesser lip service to its classical literature influence then the previous two Ward Security stories have, but still calling to mind Oscar Wilde’s story of hedonistic behaviour and double crossing.

Oh, and this one is hot. Like C4 explosive hot, like screw me over a Tuscan balcony hot, like “I can’t keep my hands off you” hot. These two being a whole new definition to sexual tension, it oozes off them whenever they’re in the same space and I just absorbed it all in like the best aphrodisiac.

I’m not going to go into too much plot detail but suffice it to say, your heart will be in your throat at the audacious behaviour these two get up to and you’ll be gasping in surprise and praying as hard as you can as forces array against them.

But be assured, family is at the heart of this story, as with all the romances in these two interlinked stories, and you will cheer and whoop for joy when the big guns come to play 🙂

Oh, and at 5% you’ll be screaming at Rinda & Jocelynn – “Oh no, you didn’t do that”
 – just as loud as I did while also squealing with delight.

The gushing and Fangirling is all my own work and I’m not a bit ashamed about it 😀

British setting works well for this new series

38596247Captive Hearts by A.E. Ryecart

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I enjoyed a lot of it including the British setting and the main characters.

It was perhaps a little bit dramatic at times but it did fit within the narrative and I liked the whole London crime boss element of the plot which was used to anchor the story.

Both Billy and Dashiell were sympathetic characters and I liked their pairing, it wasn’t just a circumstances dictating attraction, it felt believable. I also liked the secondary character development, hideous bad guys as well as the good ones.

However, for me, the actual tension of the plot being mostly due to the circumstances they were in didn’t always work and it felt a bit overly dramatic on occasion with Frankie’s character coming across a bit too obviously cliche bad guy at times.

The ending also seemed to wrap every thing up a bit fast too but the epilogue made up for it and I’m hoping Lee is going to get himself a book too in this series.

I can’t sleep…

When unrequited love leaves Dylan Hart sleepless and nursing his wounds, instinct draws him to the one place he’s found mindless respite in the past—Lovato’s. It’s a place for every fantasy — for crazy-hot encounters — where a night of insane NSA sex brings relief to Dylan’s fragile feelings.

It should be a perfect escape, and for one magical night it seems that way, but then worlds collide, and reality bites when his hookup desperately needs a friend. Surely Dylan can’t trust his instincts when friendship has bruised his heart so badly before?

It’s burying me alive…

The deck is stacked against former ballet dancer Angelo Giordano ever finding real love. At least visiting Lovato’s offers respite from a life defined by illness; a glimmer of light in the dull grey of his so-called life without dance. But then he encounters Dylan — a glorious ray of the brightest sunshine — who makes his heart pound once more with purpose.

Angelo’s mind is blown by this man, but the disease that ended his career won’t let him bask in new love. He’s drowning, and Dylan can’t save him while insecurities swamp them both. The only way to make it means confronting their demons.

If Dylan can turn his back on the past, and Angelo can face his uncertain future, maybe they can chase their dreams together.

BLURB

Aaron is drowning. After coming out as gay, he lost his parents’ approval, his job, and his sense of identity. He feels like a freak who doesn’t fit in anywhere. His last hope was his brother Josh, but Josh can’t seem to forgive him for how Aaron treated him when they were teens. Not that Aaron can blame him, because he did treat Josh like crap.

All Aaron wants is for someone to accept him, guide him, because he doesn’t have a clue. When sexy jiu jitsu teacher Blake takes him in and starts mentoring him, Aaron has hope for the first time, even though he can’t understand what Blake sees in him.

Blake doesn’t do relationships. At all. He’s more than willing to help Aaron find solid ground under his feet, but that’s it. Until insecure, vulnerable, and surprisingly sexy Aaron gets under his skin, triggering all kinds of protective instincts that make Blake long for more. He wants to take care of Aaron, give him what he needs, but how can he convince Aaron of that?

When Josh’s friend-with-benefits Indy’s past finally catches up with him, it endangers them all—and leads to heartbreaking decisions for everyone involved.

No Fear is a steamy M/M romance that ends with a HFN for Aaron and Blake, but has a continuing storyline as well. It’s the third book in the No Shame Series, and is not a stand alone novel, so make sure to read the first book (No Filter) and the second book (No Limits) first. It contains hot sex, a little kink, more hot sex, very mild puppy play, and a beautiful friendship-with-benefits that transcends labels. Also: trigger warning for mentions of sexual abuse.

No Fear Teaser 1

EXCERPT

“You can start with plain vanilla sex, work your way up to the kinky stuff,” Blake said with a laugh.

“You make it sound boring,” Aaron complained.

Blake sobered. “No, and I’m sorry for teasing you a bit. You set the pace, Aaron. If you’re not ready for sex, you wait. If you are, you find someone who will respect you enough to take it slow, okay?”

Aaron reached out for his hand and held it tight. “Will you do it?” he asked.

Blake’s heart jumped in his chest. Was Aaron asking what he thought he was? “What do you mean?” He needed to be certain.

“I want you to be my first.”

He looked so cute and pretty and sexy, still in that gorgeous top and the tight jeans. But his words were cute and pretty, too, like a schoolgirl on prom night. Blake needed to manage expectations. “Aaron, I don’t do relationships. I like you, I really do, but don’t read more into this. I don’t date or hold hands or do romantic dinners.”

“That’s okay. I don’t need that. What I need is a safe place to gain some experience. You said it yourself, I need someone who respects me enough to take it slow. I want my first time to be good. I trust you. Please, Blake?”

Blake couldn’t help himself. He pulled Aaron close and brought their mouths together. At first, Aaron kept his mouth closed. Blake increased the pressure, licked his lips and pushed with his tongue until Aaron let him in. He angled his head a bit more, dove in deep. Aaron’s movements were slow, insecure, but he wound his arms around Blake’s neck and held on.

His mouth was sweet, hot. Blake tasted the peppermint Aaron so often suckled on, those white-and-red-striped ones. He teased Aaron’s tongue with his, until it responded, until they were doing a slick dance of push and pull. He was a fast learner, copying Blake’s moves at first, then coming up with a few of his own.

He was everything Blake usually avoided. Inexperienced, vulnerable, insecure. Yet kissing him did something to Blake’s body that he didn’t recognize. It triggered a hunger in him, a fierce need to possess, to own.

His hands lowered till they reached Aaron’s ass. He put one hand on each butt cheek, pulled Aaron close to him and ground his hips into him. The kid was hard again, and he himself had barely been soft since they had gotten into the dressing room. What was Aaron doing to him?

He broke off the kiss, swore softly at the sight of Aaron’s dazed look, his swollen lips. Fuck, Blake didn’t want to stop, not even close. He kissed him once more, the gentlest of kisses. “Not here. Not now.”

Aaron blinked. “But you’ll do it?”

“Tomorrow. I want you to have time to think about this, sleep on it. If tomorrow in the cold light of day you decide this is what you want, I’m your man.”

Loved the ending of this one

Safe and Sound (Twist of Fate, #2)Safe and Sound by Lucy Lennox

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well at about the 80% mark I was rolling my eyes a lot at the incredible dramatics but the ending with Ash’s fund raiser and the meeting with his donor’s father just made everything all right in my world again.

This is a dramatic book, as I’d expect with the focus of its very specific trigger warning, but it also felt a little overly dramatic at times. And I was massively pissed off at the lack of repercussions for Ash’s obnoxious ex.

Realistic perhaps but I’d have liked to have seen some tanking of his career after the big expose, especially as it wasn’t even because of the abuse that his threats to Ash ended.

But there was lots of good bits in this one too. Aiden was basically a completely different person than he was in book one, so that was one hell of a redemption as he was a bit of an ass in that one.

I really loved the relationship between Ash and Aiden though, it truly was supportive on both sides even though on paper Aiden had the stronger and safer position.
