— There is freedom in blacking boots for the right man. —

Jake. Kings of Hell MC Prospect. Obedient. Desperate for approval.

Vars. Dominant. Stern. Undead.

Jake is itching to become a patched member of the Kings of Hell MC.

For two years he’s toiled as the only prospect. So when a new guy swans in and thinks he’ll get a patch in no time just because he’s got friends in high places, Jake is there to stand in his way.

Only that the guy is older, more experienced, drives a Harley, and has the kind of boots Jake craves to lick.

But he won’t.

Because he only fucks patches.

Vars is ready to find a new home in the Kings of Hell MC after a messy relationship led him straight to hell. In comparison, the pretty, blue-eyed prospect could be just the pleasant rebound he needs.

The boy is a brat, but that could be amended with a firm hand and a gag.

If only Jake was ready to admit to his submissive needs, Vars would gladly take him under his wing.

That is, until he finds out something inhuman resides inside of Jake.

Vars didn’t cheat death only to call out to it again.

But stuck together in one room, keeping each other’s secrets, they might just have to become allies, no matter how unwilling. Because if there is something Vars can’t resist, it’s a boy with pleading eyes.

“You are mine now, boy. This room is soundproof. No one will hear you scream.”
“Yes, sir. My body is yours.”

WARNING: This story contains scenes of violence, offensive language, and morally ambiguous characters.

Excerpt

Jake wouldn’t be subjected to this indignity. He hit right back at Vars, even if the man was solid as a rock. “I’m no slave! I do what I’m asked, and yes, if that means sucking dick, so be it. It’s called dedication. I bet you’ve never heard of it!”

Something flashed in Vars’s eyes, and he descended on Jake, twisting back his arms and pushing him forward as if Jake barely weighed anything. With a yelp, Jake clenched his eyes shut, unable to breathe as he braced himself for impact with the floor, but his body met hard steel instead.

Dampness started soaking into his clothes, and his chin slid over Knight’s newly-cleaned car. It smelled of detergent, sharp and unpleasant, but the large body pressing him down overpowered all his senses.

He struggled against the firm hold but knew he could put more strength into it. His mind drifted off to the leather flogger and cuffs that have occupied it from the moment Jake had made the mistake of touching Vars’s toy bag.

The cool touch of the car’s hood was a relief to his burning cheek. It was increasingly difficult to remind himself every day that Vars was a prospect like him when the man carried himself with so much authority.

“You sure of that?” Vars whispered, leaning over Jake until his lips were inches away from Jake’s ear. The movement pressed his hips tighter to Jake’s ass, and even though there was no trace of arousal in those leather pants, sensing the heat of Vars’s groin had Jake’s flesh feel like molten fire. Were Vars’s pubes salt-and-pepper as well, or had that been his imagination?

“Of what?” Jake’s voice came out trembling so heavily he didn’t recognize it at first. What was he doing? He couldn’t possibly give into this weird thing Vars was pulling him into. Vars had no right to him. No patch. And yet everything about the energy Vars exuded spoke to Jake on a level he didn’t understand.

So he stayed put and stopped the pretense of struggle.

Vars breathed fire down the back of Jake’s neck, and while his body still pressed down hard, and his powerful hands still kept Jake’s arms in a twist, something about the hold changed. Vars hesitated with his answer, his hips swaying gently against Jake’s buttocks as he inhaled and exhaled so close to Jake’s ear it was almost like shouting.

“That you want to serve. That polishing all those shoes on your knees gets your dick hard.”

Yes? No? Maybe? No. Yes.

So he might actually enjoy doing things for the members. Big deal. It was a lucky thing, since he’d been stuck as a prospect for years.

Jake couldn’t understand why he was so nervous. Why his body reacted so violently to this inquisition. Vars’s bulk pressing against him wasn’t helping with focus, but it was the hold on his arms that was making Jake’s senses spiral out of control. He’d gotten a glimmer of that when wrestling with Gray before, but there was something different about Vars holding him down. He just didn’t know what.

“I just want to please,” Jake whispered so quietly he wasn’t sure he’d be heard.

Riley draws Jared and Keiran’s story to a beautiful “conclusion”

Jared's Fulfillment (Jared & Keiran, #2)Jared’s Fulfillment by Riley Hart

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5*

There is some stellar writing in this book, there’s an in-depth examination into parts of the BDSM world, there’s some truly enlightened discussion about mental health and BDSM, and there’s a really wonderful mutually devoted couple at the heart of it.

So why not a higher score?

Because, ultimately, the whole Daddy kink just isn’t one that appeals to me as the basis for a relationship to the extent to which it takes place here, alongside the complete submission and the desire to subjugate your own needs and desires into pleasing someone else.

It’s utterly alien to me, even when it’s as well written and clearly mutually beneficial as it is here. I just can’t put myself into that head space.

The sex is kink-tastic and by turning off my brain’s awareness of the ‘Daddy-ness’ part, I could truly appreciate the connection between Jared and Keiran.

Bravo to Riley Hart for writing this series, in moving out of her more ‘traditional’ MM romance style, I think she’s crafted two really wonderful characters.

I just wish my brain would let me appreciate them to their full worth but sadly it won’t.

Another epic Kings of Hell romance from the Merikan duo

On Your Knees, Prospect (Kings of Hell MC, #3)On Your Knees, Prospect by K.A. Merikan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

See them stars, this gets all of them and more! I wish there was an option on Goodreads for adding extra kudos when a story just utterly blows your mind because I suspect the maestros that are Kat and Agnes Merikan would have hundreds of them!

This pair never, and I mean never, fail to surprise me – not always in a good way (yes The Copper Horse: Pride and Zombie Gentlemen I’m looking at you! One ick too far for me in spite of the stellar writing) – but with this one they utterly blew me away.

Nothing could prepare the reader for this book! You simply have to let your mind go free and experience the adrenaline ride as it happens. I waxed lyrical about books one and two in this series but even they were a bit more on the “traditional” side of an MM biker romance, even ones flirting with the paranormal.

This one though, oh lordy where to begin!

On Your Knees Prospect is, on the surface, an exceptionally good BDSM romance with a biker gang side dish, but where it excels – and this book will not be for everyone so please read and heed the warnings and subject matter – is in the paranormal elements.

Vars isn’t just a powerful dominant, he’s undead. A seriously deranged lover and an incident he only has a hazy recollection of with Mr Magpie (I love him, I need to know more!) resulted in his “rebirth” and now he’s fixed aged 39 with a mysterious black stone in his chest.

Jake is 21. Desperate to belong to the Kings of Hell MC, prospecting for almost three years and so ideally submissive it’s occasionally painful to watch just how eager he is to please.

The dynamic between these two is powerful. They go through a headrush of both physical and mental experiences which just staggered me both because of the imagination and WTFuckery which spawned them, but also because of the depth of feeling they evoked.

Again, reviewing these is made harder because I don’t want to spoil the thrill of the journey but let me say, this series is just getting better and better.

Now onto Grey and the blurb for his is beyond exciting me especially as I’ve seen the sneaky cover peek from Natasha Snow which is, once again, absolutely perfect as was this one!

The elements are wild in this paranormal romance

Elemental Love (Warlocks, #1)Elemental Love by L.M. Somerton

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Lordy this book is bonkers but in a good way. As an introduction to the series it does a good job in laying down the groundwork to explain the paranormal elements and to fix the nature of the stories going forward.

I liked the idea of the elemental warlocks needing a channel to vent power through but I wasn’t quite as keen on the light shades of BDSM in the book, but only because I felt that Evrain was perhaps a bit young to be such a dominant.

He also goes from being a fairly normal 21-year-old cocky and sure of himself to some insanely arrogant and majorly assholish at times. So that didn’t really vibe right for me. There was also a feeling of a bit of dub-con (not sure if that was supposed to be intentional or not) which never sits right with me unless it’s made very clear it’s an agreed part of the Dom/sub relationship.

Dominic is an interesting character too, sexually submissive but not a walk over in his ‘normal’ life and the scene with the bed and the vines was extremely well written (although I note other reviews didn’t like it, I found it incredibly descriptive and erotic). But he’s also a bit “typical damsel needing rescue, deliberately for plot point but I hope it doesn’t continue.

The big villain was a bit cliched but the confrontation scene was good and I liked all the secondary characters.

Fabulous exercise in how to write a submission romance

The Master Will AppearThe Master Will Appear by L.A. Witt

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

LA Witt is one of my favourite writers no matter which section of the MM genre she’s focussing on and this book is a stunning example of her BDSM work.

The BDSM in this book is light, it’s a Dom/sub pairing with some pain play but mostly it’s an exercise in how one man, taught his whole life that he’s worthless, can come to discover he’s the most precious thing in the world.

The fencing setting was also fabulous, as I actually have friends who fence for the British Olympic team and who train the British Paralympians, and it made a change from the normal mainstream sports setting.

I loved both Ryan and Misha, and their emotional and sexual connections were incredible, the Dom/sub scenes were sensual and the consensual ‘gang bang’ was blissfully erotic and never felt like porn.

This book also has a wonderful epilogue.

Hot, hot, hot! Scorching relationship-led BDSM tale

His MasterHis Master by Bink Cummings

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jeeeeze where’s a bucket of ice when you need one?! This is just my sort of BDSM kink, light on the SM elements and an emotions led Dom/sub relationship which is beautifully depicted in all its glory.

There are a couple of moments which are harsh but once Michael agrees to leave the commune and become his Master’s only, things kick off at a pace which is both scorching hot but also powerfully emotional.

It may be a little unrealistic, given how fast Judge/Master ditches his old life but I truly believed he was that in love and had found his soul mate.

I’ve not read any of Bink’s motorcycle club books but I never felt lost with the characters who also crossed over into this one.

Seriously sexy menage from Witt

Out of FocusOut of Focus by L.A. Witt

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There’s not many authors I’ve read who have as deft a hand when it comes to not only making a menage work but adding elements of BDSM into the mix as LA Witt.

This one is deliciously sensual and smoking hot but with a powerful emotional connection too which helps to ground all the sexy times into a real relationship.
