Reece was a guitar player and a singer at his grandfather’s pub in Dublin until someone betrays his secret. Once he was a happy and carefree young man, who finds himself on the streets and homeless.

He meets a handsome stranger, who gives him hope that the world still has people with compassion, until he discovers the man may have compassion, but he is no softie. Conner hires Reece as his houseboy.

Much to his shock, Conner Braden isn’t only a Garda (Irish police officer), but he is also a Dom! The two men are complete opposites, but that doesn’t stop Reece from wanting to win his heart.

What happens when Master Braden blurs the lines between employer and Dom when Reece is his employee?

AUTHOR’S NOTE: This book contains mild BDSM elements including restraints, blindfolds, and spanking. While the story uses characters from The Irish Runaway Series, you can read this book as a standalone.

Silas meets gorgeous, grumpy-looking Oscar at a bar. He’s never had sex with a guy, and what better place is there to find someone to pop that particular cherry?

He knows what he’s getting with the broad-shouldered, I-can-pummel-you-with-one-look Oscar: getting bent over a hard surface and satisfied until he’s blaspheming.

Turns out, though, there’s a lot more to Oscar that meets the eyes. Needs that you’d never guess just by looking at him. Needs that Silas turns out to perfectly meet.

One night turns into two, turns into three, turns into a dozen. It’s just a little friends-with-benefits relationship with a dollop of kink on the side. No feelings involved, right?

Right. Because Silas is just so good at keeping his heart in check.

This is an erotic ~27,000 word novella. Expect plentiful sex scenes with a friends-with-benefits (yeah, right), soft Dom/sub relationship.

Excerpt

“You look like you’re having fun,” Silas said, peering at Oscar whilst the other two leaned towards each other, falling into conversation. Oscar raised his eyebrows a little, and the clear sarcasm in the move made Silas grin.

Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad.

“Let me guess. You dragged Johnny here to get your dance on, didn’t you? ‘I need to shake my thang’, you wailed, and now here you are, crying on the inside because they’re playing a Madonna remix and this is your jam.”

He perched his chin on the palm of his hand, looking at Oscar through his eyelashes.

“My thang,” Oscar repeated, not bothering with a question mark. His voice was deep and everything you would want to come out of a face that looked like it could be used as a cornerstone for a gothic church.

“Yeah, your thang. Your badonkadonk. Your caboose. Your derriere. Your full moon rising. Your juicy double.”

“Are you done?”

“Your all that junk inside your trunk.”

“What are you drinking, exactly?”

“Why? You wanna buy me another?”

“I was actually planning on telling the bartender to cut you off.

”Silas grinned at him for a moment before knocking back his drink.

“Let’s dance,” he ordered.

“I don’t dance.”

“Sure you do, big guy.”

Author Bio

When Marina was a child she couldn’t sleep. Night after dissolving night she just couldn’t sleep. Nothing much worked – until she started making up stories in her head. Suddenly, the transition into unconsciousness was a smooth dive into calm waters.

Marina is currently in a period of sleepless upheaval, and she hopes writing down the stories in her head will cast the same spell it did decades ago.

Marina hopes to write in a variety of romance sub-genres, from contemporary to supernatural to sci-fi. Her style, however, tends to focus on character-centred stories that explore different facets of the human experience, such as mental health. She also enjoys writing explicit, drawn-out sex scenes, so expect those to be a prominent feature of her stories.

Marina tends to keep to herself unless prompted, so don’t be shy in approaching her!

Ari McKay is the professional pseudonym for Arionrhod and McKay, who have been writing together for over a decade. Their collaborations encompass a wide variety of romance genres, including contemporary, fantasy, science fiction, gothic, and action/adventure.

Their work includes the Blood Bathory series of paranormal novels, the Herc’s Mercs series, as well as two historical Westerns: Heart of Stone and Finding Forgiveness. When not writing, they can often be found scheming over costume designs or binge-watching TV shows together.

Arionrhod is a systems engineer by day who is eagerly looking forward to (hopefully) becoming a full-time writer in the not-too-distant future. Now that she is an empty-nester, she has turned her attentions to finding the perfect piece of land to build a fortress in preparation for the zombie apocalypse, and baking (and eating) far too many cakes.

McKay is an English teacher who has been writing for one reason or another most of her life. She also enjoys knitting, reading, cooking, and playing video games. She has been known to knit in public. Given she has the survival skills of a gnat, she’s relying on Arionrhod to help her survive the zombie apocalypse.

Cute! BDSM romance from the pens of Ari McKay

His To Save (The Candy Cane Club, #2)His To Save by Ari McKay

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If ever it could be said that a book about a BDSM club – and a sub who needs to learn how to reach subspace after an abusive relationship – was cute, it would be this book.

It really is cute, as well as sweet and funny at times, sexy and emotional and I really enjoyed it.

The idea of using BDSM to treat symptoms of PTSD isn’t a new one, I believe there are actual studies which researched it, and in the hands of this pair of authors, it’s treated with the weight and seriousness it deserves.

There are potential trigger warnings for readers of this book in so much as it discusses emotional abuse in childhood but it’s not given much detail and works really as the hook on which to slot the romance.

Saiph and Nick make a wonderful pair and each one helps the other beat their personal demons.

Short – but oh so sweetly kinky – romance from Ari McKay

His To Serve (The Candy Cane Club #1)His To Serve by Ari McKay

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a short (my reason for only three stars not four) but incredibly sweet exploration of the Dom/sub aspect of the BDSM world, specifically as a service sub.

It’s perhaps a little bit “insta-love” for my liking but I did absolutely believe that Cameron woke up to the fact he was a natural born sub with a desire to please Anton once he’d experienced his first scene.

The book has a very interesting premise, in that Cameron is an actor seeking authenticity in a role which requires him to play a submissive and I thought it worked really well.

As a couple, they’re ridiculously sweet together, each finding a perfect partner, as well as a BDSM companion.

I liked the idea of this but the book frustrated me

That's My EthanThat’s My Ethan by Tarian P.S.

My rating: 2.5 of 5 stars

ETA: Note 16/06/18 – I’ve just found out that the author had mistakenly overwritten the final version of this with an earlier version missing all the fourth round edits so I’m hoping to get a chance to read it again once it’s fixed.

I liked the idea of this book a lot more than I liked the execution of it. I suspect this is going to be “it’s me, not the book” and that it will generally have good reviews.

But, I found the narrative style to be quite frustrating, as were the formatting and the grammatical errors/typos. As I have an ARC, it’s possible they will be fixed on release (although I believe this book is already out so I don’t know).

There are good points though, this book is a very clever look at a full on BDSM Dom/sub relationship where it’s a 24/7 way of life. Both Damir and Ethan are real – obviously as they are based on actual people – but by that, I mean they come across the page as fully fleshed out individuals with unique character traits and their voices never become confused.

It’s also a great insight into how communication is the key to a long lasting relationship, no matter the type, and that being willing to compromise, to listen, to sacrifice the small things in order to protect the big things.

There’s lots of sex, but the story doesn’t focus on that as a means of “getting off”, instead how they behave sexually with each other is an integral part of the plot developing alongside the relationship

Now, I can’t say whether all that appears in the book actually happened with the real people this book is based on, but I can say that I didn’t think any of it was beyond the realms of actuality.

So, overall, while this is absolutely a love story, it’s not necessarily my kind of one.
