A former king must learn to compromise or lose his mate forever.

Living in a grand castle is awesome. But after a while, Dustin, a guy accustomed to hard physical labor surrounded by co-workers he considers family, can’t handle staying home and nearly isolated without going absolutely insane. Dustin yearns for more freedom, but Casersis restricts him for his safety.

Casersis longs for a soulbond so badly his soul feels like an open wound. But he fears Dustin will refuse him, or worse, run away screaming when he learns what the soulbond entails. To avoid his worries, Casersis takes Dustin on dates. If Dustin is busy having fun, he can’t hound Casersis for why he’s always so sad. Or so Casersis thinks.

When Casersis and Dustin accidentally soulbond, neither of them are prepared. Dustin isn’t fully an elf yet. The soulbond’s ancient magic ravages Dustin’s body, sending him into random fits of excruciating pain. And if they don’t find a way to compromise about Dustin’s freedom, it may just be too late.

This 70,000-word non-shifter omegaverse novel is set in a world where mPreg (male pregnancy) is a fact of life. However, this series does not end with a baby or pregnancy.

Release Blitz Excerpt:

But when I neared the gym, I heard his heavy footfalls as he ran on one of the treadmills. When I entered, his scent surrounded me—clove, clean sweat, and musk. Gods, I wanted to get lost in his scent.

He glanced over and grinned at me. “See something you like?”

I chuckled and leaned against the wall next to the door. “I do. Should I show you how much I like what I see?”

Dustin winked at me as he stopped the treadmill. He wiped down his face with the towel hanging on one of the arms and sauntered toward me with a sure, confident stride. I loved the way he made me feel hunted. And I would always want him to capture me. He already had.

“What’s up?”

Grinning, I stepped closer and stole a sweet kiss that made Dustin sigh and made our bond sing between us. “I thought we might go on a date. Go get into something comfortable that you won’t mind getting dirty. And pack a bag with toiletries, towels, shorts and a t-shirt, and warm things you don’t mind getting filthy.”

“Are you taking me to another gym?” he asked, his eyes narrowed.

I chuckled. “No. But you will be showering after, and you’ll need a nice pair of slacks and a sweater for the last half of our date. You’ll also need very warm clothes that you don’t mind getting filthy. And layers. Add as many as you can while still allowing you to move freely. So, pack a bag, and I’ll meet you at your door in twenty minutes.”

He kissed me, licked into my mouth, and drank down my moan. Then he pulled back and kissed the side of my neck. “Showering there or not, I’d better take one here before we go doing anything. I stink.”

I leaned in and sniffed his neck. His scent wrapped around me like a comforting blanket, and I purred. “I quite like the way you smell after working out.”

He rolled his eyes and fought off a smile. “You’re weird.”

Grinning, I playfully pushed him toward the door. “Go on. Shower quickly.”

He kissed me again and left me feeling lightheaded from the love that flowed through our bond. It was a heady thing, one that made me feel lighter than air as I went to my room, following my trotting mate more sedately since I had already showered.

About the Author

devon-logo-main

If there’s one thing Devon likes most, it’s chaos. She has a chaotic mind, messy house, and throws her characters into every calamitous situation possible. When she isn’t writing, she’s editing or formatting other authors’ works, building websites, creating graphics, reading, playing video games, or watching Fortnite streams on Twitch. She likes to stay busy. So yes. Chaos.

Starting in 2003, Devon turned her writing bug away from poetry and online role play in chat rooms to write her first novel. Yes, it was trash, but the process of learning to edit that piece of garbage spurred her to learn more and more. By 2013, she read an author by the name of Raythe Reign, and somehow, Raythe’s stories finally made all that learning in Devon’s mind click. She wrote her first semi-salable book in two weeks. The next in ten days, and by the beginning of 2014, had seven books written.

Were they all trash? No, but she’s in the process of rewriting them, and has already written one, turning Duty and Sacrifice into three books of a nine-book series, The God Jars Saga. Those three books were followed by more, and the last two books in the series were published in the first quarter of 2019.

Born on a Navy base in Patuxent River, Maryland, Devon has traveled the world, living in Sigonella, Sicily for three years, and visiting many European countries before moving back to the states around the age of seven. She’s lived in Florida for sixteen years, Oklahoma for a year, and Pennsylvania for the rest. She graduated from surgical technology school near the top of her class in 2004, and uses her medical and worldly knowledge to enrich her books whenever possible. Being the worldly woman she is, and having spent most of her teens as a broody goth, Devon has four tattoos, nine piercings, loves techno, electronica, dubstep, and similar music genres, and has an incurable internet addiction.

She builds her own computers, can’t stand Mac-anything unless it’s to format books in Vellum, and purple and black are her favorite colors, though that can change to burgundy and gray depending on the day. Since she has bipolar disorder, PTSD, social anxiety disorder, general anxiety disorder, clinical depression, and has trouble leaving her house due to all that, Devon works full time as an author and editor, and spends as much time as she can talking to other authors and her readers.

Is there a time limit on love and forgiveness?

Fifteen years ago, Manny didn’t show up to take Wes to the Shelby High School prom as he promised. Instead, Wes found Manny’s letter jacket at their meeting spot without a note or any explanation.

From college to his current job in Monterey, California, Wes has carted the jacket around as a memento of his teenage love and rejection. This year he decides enough is enough. He’s attending the high school class reunion, returning Manny’s jacket, and going home free to find the real love of his life.

When Manny sees Wes at the reunion tour of the new high school facilities, he’s determined not to let his teenage lover leave without them clearing the air and possibly getting back together.

Through reunion activities such as a quiz bowl, meet-and-greet meals, and a formal banquet with a prom-like ball as well as outside activities like the quinceañera of Manny’s niece, Wes and Manny work through the lies and misunderstandings of the past.

With so much to reconcile and forgive on both sides, will they end up together? Or go their separate ways with only memories of the past?

Excerpt

Manny and I had never talked about college or the future. We’d been too centered on sex.

Because of all my wanderings through the past, it took me a few seconds to process what he’d told me. He’d written me a letter, and on the night of the prom, he had put it with the jacket at our prearranged meeting place.

He’d left the jacket—for me. He hadn’t crushed it into the ground in some undecipherable message. He’d left it with a note for me.

What had happened? Who’d come along and taken the note? And tried to blot out the jacket? Why hadn’t he or she taken it, too?

There was still a lot of food left on our plates when we both stopped eating and sat staring at each other.

“Okay, please tell me what happened from your side. What did your letter say? I have to make sense of this.”

He put his hand on the table, open for me to grab it with mine. We needed to hold on as we looked down at the rift that had separated us for fifteen years.

“What the letter said was I was stupid and asked you to forgive me. I knew I was gay. You knew I was gay. Hell, most of the town and the class probably knew, too. Everyone but my mother who insisted I wasn’t. According to her, none of the Garcias or the Escobars had ever been. She had read about homosexuality running in family lines. We had no gay men in the family. Therefore, I could not possibly be gay.” His thumb started rubbing over the back of my hand. “But I am. I knew it then. And I know now she knew it.”

The last part was said so low and his thumb over my skin was so seductive the words at first bypassed my brain. He kept speaking, so I had to scramble to keep up.

“Her big ambition for me wasn’t to get into a good college and have a fulfilling career like some parents wanted for their kids. No, it was for me to be a chambelane for as many of the daughters of friends as she could arrange, pick one of the girls, get married, and have as many kids as the girl would allow.” His thumb stopped, and he stared into my eyes.

“All I wanted to do was go on dates with you and for us to go to the prom. Together. As boyfriends. That’s all.”

His soulful eyes reflected the conflict between him and his mother.

“In the end, she won a tiny victory that has nicked away at my soul. When it came time for me to stand like a man, I failed. I cut myself down to her size. I agreed to play her game of life.” He looked away and sighed. “I learned the quinceañera waltz. I partnered her friends’ daughters. She smiled at me and bragged about her dutiful son. She dangled me by the strings she had woven since I was a baby.”

A short silence descended on us. I had nothing to say and knew he had a lot more to tell me.

COVER - Age of Mycea

Blurb

The Marjar attack on Mycea sets in motion a series of changes in the ruling structure of the empire that will forever impact the lives of three powerful men. King Meshia, supreme ruler of the empire, Sebastian of Cardin, Commander of the Third Empirical battalion, and Sebastian’s Cardinian lover, a gifted healer beyond any that have come before him.

King Meshia has a secret, one that might lose him his crown. One that would certainly diminish his capacity to rule and lead the empire’s forces into battle. One night of unbridled passion, one weakness, one longing that could bring the monarchy to its knees.

Sebastian of Cardin, Commander of the Third Empirical Battalion, knows that love comes in many forms. He lives it, he breathes it. He is unapologetic. The military and his home in the Entertainment District in the Neter Colony on Mycea suit every aspect of his life.

Leo of Cardin, a conjuring Cardinian, an anomaly of nature. Skilled in his craft. A force to be reckoned with in his own right. His relationship with Sebastian does not define every aspect of his life. He too has a secret, his family heritage placing him in a position of incredible power.

Their world in turmoil, they will be called upon to embrace the love in their lives and abandon their long-held prejudices against one another in order to preserve the survival of their people.

MEME1 - Age of Mycea

Excerpt

They were all going to die. As soon as the morning sun rose over the tundra, their few remaining troops would be wiped out. They were surrounded. Permitted one final night.

Sebastian trudged through the offering of fresh snow, his chest tightening, his breath billowing clouds of mist before his eyes. The snow’s arrival had warmed the frigid air somewhat.

His men were suffering.

Early spring on Kronos was not for the weak-hearted. Any season would test the hardiest of those who found themselves there. The third planet from Mycea had five seasons ranging from sweltering heat to bone-chilling drops in temperature few could survive. The five seasons coinciding with the animals and fauna that could be hunted and gathered during those times.

Fortunately, spring had brought them an abundance of game to feed themselves. Early spring had not been as kind. They had lost dozens of men to hypothermia and starvation.

With one of Kronos’ moons reflecting off the fresh snow, it was light enough to see, but the Marjar would bide their time until morning. They had been trying to take control of Kronos for months. What was one more night? Sebastian looked out over the undulating, treeless hills of white. The ore-rich mining planet was desolate but had a haunting beauty to it.

Perhaps death would be as peaceful.

Sebastian nodded to the guards, their sheathed swords likely chipped and grubby with blood. They would not be granted a reprieve to tend to them tonight.

The king deserved one last night of peace.

The flap of the canvas tent was stiff from the cold but folded back enough to allow Sebastian access. It fell into place behind him, containing what little heat was being offered by the oil lamps scattered about the interior.

He had been summoned here tonight.

His heart thundered heavy and rapid in his chest at the reason why.

It all started the day he stepped off a warship at the Neter colony, the heart of the empire, eight years ago. The respect—the mutual admiration. The stern face that had simply cocked one eyebrow upon seeing Sebastian for the first time.

Blood, glory, and conquest; eight years of battles had been fought by his side.

He was not there to talk.

Sebastian stepped forward into the tent and bowed deeply to the man watching him. “Your Majesty, you summoned me.”

“This is the end for us, I fear.” The king shifted in his seat and motioned to the chair across from him. As always, there was kindness in his brilliant green eyes, a kindness that rarely reached the other features of his face. Firm jaw jutted, his lips were drawn tight, his breathing steady.

“Have we no options?” Sebastian settled into the seat across from his king, accepting the cup of wine offered him.

“You know we don’t.” The king rose to his feet, circled around to Sebastian’s side of the table, and laid his hand on Sebastian’s shoulder. “That’s not why you’re here.”

Sebastian placed his hand atop the king’s. “I know.”

The king leaned down and kissed the side of Sebastian’s neck, his warm breath drifting seductively across Sebastian’s skin. It made its way to his lips. Sebastian breathed it in.

“Tonight, I need to know what I’ve denied myself of for so long.”

Sebastian wrapped his hand around the back of the king’s neck, drawing him closer, the king’s short-cropped, blond hair bristling against his palm.

“Meshia …” A simple whisper of desire. The fires that had been burning for years between them would be quenched this night.

And tomorrow, they would die.
