I have feelings, I need there to be loads of revenge in book three!

ThePrincesDragon-coverThe Prince’s Dragon by W.M. Fawkes & Sam Burns

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I need book three like right now because I have feelings, feelings about people who need to have very horrible things happen to them.

This book nicely takes off very soon after the end of book one with the Kingdom in chaos and Tris not knowing where to turn.

There’re dangers lurking around every corner but there’s also unexpected allies and new friendships forming too.

This book has multiple POVs and I love that I get to see inside the head of lots of different people, not just Tris and Bet.

I also love that there is a strand of FF romance running through the narrative as dragon emissary Rhiannon continues her journey with Sir Sidone, the beautiful knight who helped her escape.

With new secrets being revealed, new characters entering the plot and an enemy determined to take all, the pacing rattles along like a train hurtling to a broken bridge but never veered too far away from the central thread as Tris and Bet navigate their relationship further.

Haven Hart stands on the edge of good and evil. Having balance between the two is the only thing keeping the town from crumbling to the ground. For years, one man has been charged with maintaining that balance. Poe.

The air of mystery surrounding Poe is one of necessity. He’s the keeper of secrets and for good reason. He’s stood alone against the most ruthless men and women, always hiding behind the curtain to help his friends defeat what seeks to destroy them.

Now, after all this time, the city he loves, the people he has protected, and the secrets he’s kept hidden are in serious jeopardy. Poe will need the help of his friends to fight the ultimate battle; not just save Haven Hart but everything and everyone he holds dear to him.

When the dust settles, will betrayals be forgiven? Will the city still be standing? Will Poe’s beloved be at his side or will everything crumble? One thing is for certain, everything will be tested, and questions will finally be answered. Raven’s Hart is the final installment in the Haven Hart Series.

This is the 7th book in the Haven Hart Series it is NOT a standalone and all others need to be read before this one.

A light tap caught my attention, and I looked up to see Tony and Snow standing there. Snow, ever his curious self, was looking up, down, and around, absorbing it all, never to forget.

“Thank you, Tony, I’d like to speak with Snow alone, and then perhaps, if he has further questions pertaining to security and what you know, the two of you can talk later.”

“Okay, holler if you need me.” He smiled at Snow who nodded, and then left the room.

It wasn’t so much an uncomfortable silence as it was worrisome. Snow wasn’t a quiet person. He spoke up for everything he believed in, and on many occasions, gave me a good tongue lashing. To see him walking through my office and not making eye contact with me was jarring.

“Snow?” He jumped when I spoke but turned my way. “Would you like a drink?”

He chuckled, but it held very little humor. “What’s the strongest thing you’ve got?”

Ahh, so he was having trouble with all this. Understandable. I walked over to the small cart with some beverages and poured us each a Jack and ginger ale. I knew he didn’t like drinking because of his father, but he wasn’t kidding that he wanted a drink.

“Thanks,” he said as he took the drink and sipped it. “So, this is really weird.”

I couldn’t argue with that. “Did you read my note?”

He rolled his eyes at my obviously stupid question. “I wouldn’t be here if I hadn’t. You have Jason Momoa over there come to my house, tell me he can’t say much but to read this thing and to follow him. You’re lucky Christopher wasn’t home, or Bill for that matter, or I wouldn’t have been able to sweet talk Donny into trusting my life choices and going with Aquaman.”

A fitting end to a quite excellent series

EBook-Raven's-Hart-5x8.jpgRaven’s Hart by Davidson King

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Poe’s story ends a quite brilliant series from Davidson King but I found it absolutely fitting that the final words in the book go to Snow and Simon – which is where this excellent tale began some six books previous and 10 years earlier in the narrative.

While Bill and Mace from A Dangerous Dance remain my favourite pair, I have to say that I was absolutely dying to find out Poe’s secrets and what secrets they were. There won’t be any spoilers in this review, unfortunately there’s lots already out there, so be careful if you’ve not read this yet when browsing Amazon or Goodreads.

Suffice it to say, all my questions were answered, secrets were revealed which made events which happened in earlier books make perfect sense, costs were heavy at times, but the ending was everything I’d expect to find in a romantic suspense novel.

I both loved and, at times, wanted to shake Poe during this series, but here all the reasons for why he is as he is were revealed and I came to absolutely understand everything about what made him the man he was.

I was vaguely close in my guessing as to what his secret would be, but still quite a way away from the actual truth and I might have just squealed a bit when that came out because it was utterly perfect and made me smile lots.

The dual POV was such a great way to bring us into the head of (I’m not telling you who Poe’s love is so no spoilers here!) Mr Poe and the occasional flashbacks gave more insight and made a necessary addition to the strange mix of found family we’ve come to know so well.

All the usual suspects are also firmly involved in this tale as all the threads weave together into a dramatic, adrenalin-fueled conclusion.

If you’ve not picked up this series yet, I highly recommend it, it’s one of my favourites.
