Stiles Long emphatically did not want his lover, Michael O’Leary to go on the assignment he had been given. He didn’t care that Michael was an amazing poker player or that his commander thought Michael was the perfect man for the job. He almost lost Michael once. He couldn’t go through that again.

Michael needed this. He needed to prove that he was able to take care of himself. He didn’t need Stiles to take care of him. He needed to be Stiles’ equal. The poker game in Durango, Colorado was his chance to prove that. The fact that Stiles didn’t want him to go didn’t matter. Michael had to do this.

Lizzie Ferguson was Stiles partner in the Pinkerton Agency. She was a good agent. That didn’t mean she had to like being dressed in satin and lace, showing way too much of her body to total strangers. Lizzie knew there was more going on at Maverick’s Saloon, and it might just cost her life.

None of them suspected that a simple poker game would turn into a deadly nightmare. If the three of them weren’t careful, one of them might just end up the next victim.

About The Author

J. Baty lives in southwest Ohio. Her heart, however, lives in the mountains of Tennessee where she hopes to retire some day. The mountains have always provided her with inspiration and a soothing balm to the stresses of everyday life.

The dream of writing her own stories started in high school but was left on the back burner of life until her son introduced her to fan fiction and encouraged her to give it a try. She found that her passion for telling a story was still there and writing them down to share with others was much more thrilling than she had ever expected.

She has a loving and supportive family who don’t mind fixing their own meals when she is in the middle of a story, and a network of friends who have encouraged and cheered her on in her quest of being an author.

One thing she has learned from life and she is often heard to say is: “You are never too old to follow your dream!”

No strings attached is all Oliver can offer. He’s hiding a broken heart that holds him back from diving into a new relationship, but he’ll go on a blind date to make his family happy. Just one date, though; he doesn’t have time for love to derail his plans.

Divorced and demoted to the night shift, Nick has his own problems. He’s got an ex-wife who needs him and a kid with one foot in juvie. The last thing Nick needs is to butt heads—or other body parts—with a tempting hipster who wears a sad smile on their blind date.

Their chemistry can’t be denied, though, in an argument or in bed. No strings sex is uncomplicated and that’s what Nick and Oliver need. But getting into bed together is one thing. Staying out of each other’s hearts soon becomes so much more complicated than either one imagined.

Cold Pressed is an 80k contemporary MM romance. It features a smoldering bisexual single dad, a broken-hearted hipster with a thing for beet juice, and a friends-with-benefits arrangement that blooms into the HEA you’ve been looking for.

About The Author

Copy of Allison-Temple-Final_T7A1362-Web.jpg

Allison Temple has been a writer since the second grade, when she wrote a short story about a girl and her horse. Her grandmother typed it out for her and said she’s never seen so many quotation marks from a seven-year-old before. Allison took that as a challenge and has gone on to try to break her previous record in all her subsequent works.

Allison lives in Toronto with her very patient husband and the world’s neediest cat. She splits her free time between writing, community theater stage management, and traveling anywhere that has good wine. Tragically, this leaves no time to clean her house.

He’s everything I want but run away from.

Breakups.

But there’s one person above everything else I can’t seem to get a handle on.

Brody Wallace.

In short, he’s perfect. The reality, he scares me.

He’s the opposite of what I usually go for. He’s bigger. Intimidating. He reminds me of someone I’d rather forget.

When I need to find a new place to live, Brody offers me his spare room, but I have no plans on taking him up on the offer. He doesn’t know what happened to me five years ago, and I want to keep it that way.

But with limited options, I find myself outside his apartment holding a full moving box and wondering: How can I do this without exposing the darkest part of my past?

MM Romance – Daddy/boy

Blurb

Davey’s Rule #86: A good Daddy will never lie to his boy… even by omission.

Travis Miller has a pretty solid life in the small California beach town he calls home. He’s working his way up in the district attorney’s office, he owns a home with an ocean view, and he has close ties with his family. Life is good. If only he could find a sweet boy to call his own, life would be… perfect.

Adam Nichols’ life has never been easy. Growing up in foster care taught him to be strong, so finding himself in a violent relationship was a shock. Now that he’s finally free of it, he faces new problems. He’s jobless, homeless, and terrified of starting from scratch.

With a little help from an old friend, Adam discovers a whole new world. He goes from rock bottom to renting a room from a hot assistant DA and working at Daddy’s Lap, a kink club that opens his vanilla eyes to things he’d never imagined. His new roommate is a balm to Adam’s damaged soul. The tender way Travis cares for him is almost like the Daddy kink community he’s seen at the club. But Travis isn’t a Daddy… right? If he were, surely he’d have said so.

What happens when a lie by omission threatens to bring their budding relationship tumbling down around them? Will Travis ever be able to earn Adam’s trust again?

Author’s Note: This is the first book in a new series about not-so-perfect Daddies, adorable “boys,” and one sassy brat with an insane list of rules.

Grab your fan and tissues because this series comes with both a high heat advisory and all the squishy feels you’d want from a Susan Hawke book. Possible trigger for references to domestic violence.

Excerpt

I licked my lips as I checked out my date for the umpteenth time. I had high hopes for tonight. Travis was definitely hot Daddy material. I’d been checking this cutie out for a while. He was one of the Daddies who belonged to the private club where I’d been working as a bartender for the past couple years.

If Travis looked good inside the walls of Daddy’s Lap, he looked downright edible sitting across from me in this fancy restaurant. God, I was just so sick of hookups and the whole dating scene. Maybe this date would be the one.

Seriously. Was it too much to ask to just want to find the perfect Daddy that I could settle down with? Hell, maybe we’d even get a puppy. Bitches like puppies. That would be me. I’m a bitch who likes puppies.

I was zoning out, picturing different dog breeds, when I realized the waiter was not-so-patiently waiting for my drink order. I gave the snotty twink the quick elevator treatment with bored eyes. “Sorry, hon. Just bring me a glass of the house red. No, scratch that. Make it a Merlot. God only knows what might pass for the house red.”

The waiter—Todd, according to the name tag—rolled his eyes. He muttered under his breath, “Like you’d know the difference.” I leaned back in my seat with new respect for the guy and silently clawed the air with my fingers. Meow, baby.

Travis cleared his throat. “Scratch that, Todd. The gentleman will have a glass of iced tea. In fact, bring a glass for each of us. Thank you.”

Dammit. I’d had such high hopes for this evening and Travis had already broken rule number eight.

I didn’t say a word, just made a mental tally mark in the con column. Travis was only a few years older than me. He couldn’t have been much older than thirty, yet he had that total Daddy vibe that checked every box for me. Age wasn’t a factor in whether or not a man was a Daddy. You either had it, or you didn’t. And Travis? Oh, honey… Travis had it going on.

And yet… He’d totally broken rule number eight. I recited it silently while I reached for a bread roll and began to butter it. “Daddy must respect that his boy is also an adult and will treat him as such in public or on the occasions when the boy needs his autonomy.”

Yep. Travis canceling my drink order was a complete rule infraction. However, I was nothing if I was not fair. Any potential Daddies would get three strikes before they were out. That meant Travis had two more chances to wow me, or not wow me, as the case may be.

Todd showed up with two frosty glasses of iced tea, garnished with a pretty sliced lemon floating on top. I wrinkled my nose and set the glass aside as I took another look at my menu. Todd was reciting the day’s specials, but I didn’t have time for that shit. Please, honey. Everyone knows the day’s specials are just a way to get rid of the things that are about to spoil. Yeah… no. I’d be ordering from the menu, thank you very much.

“Are you gentlemen ready to order, or should I give you a few more minutes?” Was it me or was Todd giving me a judgmental look because I was still reading the menu? That just made me want to read it all over again, starting with the first item and reading like I’d forgotten my glasses.

My mouth fell open when Travis reached over and took my menu. He closed it and handed both menus to Todd. “I’ll have the surf and turf special, and the gentleman will have the salmon almondine with the wild mushroom risotto.” Todd jotted down the order and took off. I was too busy gaping at Travis to say a word.

How dare? How very dare? Sure, I’d been eyeballing the dish he’d ordered for me, but how dare he? Ugh. And in doing so, he’d just broken rule number seventeen—earning himself a second tally mark in the con column. I silently recited the rule as I continued to gape at Travis. Daddy will not order his boy’s meal in public unless his boy has specifically requested he do so.

Whether or not I’d been planning to order that dish was completely beside the point. Facts were facts and rule infractions were rule infractions. There had to be order in life or anarchy would reign supreme.

Come on, Travis. Don’t make that third strike. I’d really like to take you to third base when we get out of here. That’s a much better third to hit, honey.

As an avid reader and big romance fan myself, I love sharing the stories of the different people who live in my imagination. My stories are filled with humor, a few tears, and the underlying message to not give up hope, even in the darkest of times, because life can change on a dime when you least expect it.

This theme comes from a lifetime of lessons learned on my own hard journey through the pains of poverty, the loss of more loved ones than I’d care to count, and the struggles of living through chronic illnesses. Life can be hard, but it can also be good! Through it all I’ve found that love, laughter, and family can make all the difference, and that’s what I try to bring to every tale I tell.

I’m a happily married mom with one snarky teenage boy, and three grown “kids of my heart.” I’m more widely known for my mpreg writings as Susi Hawke; this new name is a departure from that. Whether written by Susan or Susi, the books are filled with that all-important love, laughter, and family I mentioned; the only difference is that this name has no male pregnancy.

I look forward to sharing my stories with you, and to bringing more romance and laughter into this world that needs it so very badly.

Excerpt

Starting His Engine

Garrison didn’t say anything until Joan and Earl left the room. Caleb moved closer and hugged his brother. “Glad you’re okay, man.”

“Thanks. What’s in the paper bag?”

“Clothes. I figured you needed to borrow a fresh shirt and shorts. Joan suggested I stop by your place and get you some clean clothes, but I wanted to come over right away without stopping at New Smyrna so I just grabbed you some of my clothes.”

Caleb handed the bag to Garrison who peered inside.

“What’s this?” He lifted a pink muscle tank top. “Holy shit! I’m not wearing this!”

“What about the shorts I brought?”

Garrison took out the blue shorts and eyed them. “These are girl’s shorts.”

“No. They’re male shorts, just a really, really, really short pair, meant to highlight posterior assets.”

“I’m not wearing these. My balls would be hanging out of them!”

Caleb snorted while Garrison threw the clothes at him. “You’re never appreciative of the things I do for you.”

Garrison mouthed the word asshole and then laughed.

“Did you expect anything less?”

“I guess not, little brother. Where have you been, by the way? You’ve been MIA for like two to three weeks.”

“Dad and I, well, I don’t know how to explain it,” said Caleb.

“Joan told me. She said dad wants Youngblood racing to focus on one driver for marketing and endorsements.”

“I guess that’s one way to put it,” said Caleb as he walked toward the window. “I asked him why, you know. He said he didn’t have to explain himself. That’s when I told him I didn’t want to ever talk to him again.”

“Dramatic much?” laughed Garr.

Caleb turned away from the window and sat next to Garr. “If he never wanted me to race the majors, why would he even let me drive period?”

“I don’t think we ever had a choice did we? I mean this is the family business. At least I didn’t have a choice — not like I’d want to do anything else. But you? You shouldn’t have dropped out of college. I know you came back because of Mom.” Garr patted Caleb’s thigh. “I’ll talk to Dad and see if I can talk some sense into him. I don’t know what’s going on lately. I know Joan and he like to keep the business side of things to themselves, but we all need to know why Dad is doing what Dad is doing.”

“You’re the better driver, Garr.” Caleb paused. “If he just came out and said, we’re going with Garrison because he’s the better, I’m fine with that. But to just say, I’m not racing anymore, especially the majors? I’m not ten years old. Dad should just give me the reasons why, not just say, I’m out. I’m done.”

They both sat in silence for a moment before Garrison spoke. “So what have you been doing lately? Bob says you show up in the shop and check out the cars when Dad’s not there and then leave.”

“I’ve been trying to send out feelers here and there about Formula racing and maybe racing for another team.”

“Does Dad know this?”

Caleb shook his head. “Nope. And don’t tell him either.”

“Joan said you’re dating a new guy?”

“That’s old news. We’ve been dating for more than a little over six months.”

“And you’ve never introduced him to me?” Garrison raised his shoulders and shrugged, and gestured for more information with a wave of his hands. “And?”

“I like him.”

“What’s his name?”

“Seb.”

“Seb?”

“Short for Sebastian?”

Garrison’s eyebrows arched. “Sebastian?”

“He doesn’t like to use his middle name, Harry.”

“Last name?”

“Rush.”

“Okay. Are we going to do very short answers, now? I’m your brother. You don’t have to be secretive around me.”

Caleb exhaled. “I know.”

Excerpt

“What the hell did you pack in these boxes? Rocks?” Sean Meirlach shifted the heavy moving box on his shoulder. Sean looked and sounded like the Jersey Shore guy he was, brawny and blunt.

“Books,” Ben replied. “You know, those rectangular paper things? Ever read one?” The teasing was good-natured. Ben Nolan had spent most of his summers working for his cousin’s mom, and they were thick as thieves. Which, Ben reflected, was a poor analogy for an ex-cop-turned-former-private-investigator. And now, at least for this summer, a vacation rental manager in beautiful Cape May, New Jersey.

“Yes, dumbass. I’ve read lots of books. And not just the ones with pictures in them,” Sean said with a smirk. Sean played up his bad boy persona, but Ben knew his cousin had plenty of brains, hustle, and street smarts.

“Good to know. I’d hate to have to break it to Aunt Meg that her favorite son was illiterate.”

Sean snorted. “Favorite son? I’m her only son, asshole. And she’s already pissed at me because I just want to run my food truck in Wildwood. Which is why you’re doing me a huge solid, taking over the family business.”

“Whoa, there! Hold up. I’m here for the summer. Just the summer. I said I’d see how it went. No promises.”

“Just the summer? You sure brought a lot of shit with you if it’s just for the summer.” Sean set the box down a little harder than necessary on a table in the upstairs apartment over the rental office, which would be Ben’s home for the next few months. Ben dumped the tangle of odds and ends he had carried up from the rented van and flopped onto the couch. He had put most of his things in storage when he left Newark and brought what he didn’t want to do without, or what the apartment didn’t have. Sean had driven the truck up to Cape May, while Ben drove his black Mustang, packed to the roof.

He owed Sean a lot for helping him move—and, if truth be told, for pushing him as the perfect candidate for the job to Aunt Meg.

“Don’t screw up the master plan, dude!” Sean chided. “You’re sick of the big city and getting shot. And I need a little of that good life, somewhere not quite as buttoned-down.” He reached for a bottle of water and took a swig. “I love this town, but I need to stretch my wings. And the vibe in Wildwood is different. People come for the Pier and the Boardwalk and the rides. More singles, not just families. And they all have to eat!”

Sean’s truck, Put A Ring On It, specialized in kickass onion rings, which went on everything—burgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, even chili. The combination of great food, a catchy name, and Sean’s outgoing personality had made for a very successful launch.
