RJ opens this F1 series with a slow burn romance
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This was a solid opener to this new multi author series set in the high octane world of Formula 1 racing.
It’s not a sport I know much about, and I thought the balance was perfect between the technical aspects needed for the setting and the romance itself.
Noah peed me off for a lot of this book, though, and while there’s UST and a couple of hot encounters between him and rookie Archie, the relationship element is serious slow burn.
It works, but I would have really liked to have seen more between them when they weren’t just getting off or having a “fall-out” over either the racing or Noah’s rejection of Archie each time he got frightened by his feelings.
We do get a lovely epilogue seven years in the future, which was a really nice way to show how they’d moved on together.
As this is a multi author series that occurs concurrently, there’s also hints and snippets of stuff going on in the background that I found fascinating and definitely added to my anticipation for the other stories.
RJ writes a sweet relationship development in the later part of the book, which made me really happy, and I loved the visit to Noah’s family.
All in all, I enjoyed this opening romance a lot.
