Annabeth writes wonderful military men and here’s no exception

I love the way Annabeth writes military men and here it’s a double bisexual/gay awakening coupled with a dawning realisation that liking pretty things isn’t a sign of weakness.

An act of kindness from one A List staff member to another when they both find themselves dumped just before Valentine’s Day turns into a truly compelling exploration of what makes someone tick.

There’s trigger warnings for mild internalised homophobic ideas about masculinity and a few examples of toxic thinking, but otherwise, this has only a small amount of relationship angsting.

I fell in love with the exceptionally kind and thoughtful Malik straight away, Avery was sweet as candy but took a bit more warming up to.

Not because he’s not worthy of affection, but more because he blew hot and cold and had a lot of work to do on his own personal hang-ups.

But once he realised his feelings for Malik were genuine, well then he was an utter delight and seeing him opening up like a flower in bloom was gorgeous.

There’s very mild kink, some spanking, dirty talk and a love of lace underwear which helps Avery come to terms with himself that I adored seeing play out.

Best thing though, the guest appearance of two of my favourite characters from Annabeth’s Out of Uniform series. Who, I leave it for you to discover 😁

I believe this is the last book in this series for now and I’ve loved each one of them for many different reasons.

I think Ambrose and Harley’s remains my favourite one though.
