Dante & Rainn kick off this new series with high octane action
War of the Wicked by Davidson King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I absolutely love how this author writes morally grey men and yet makes them into something you could almost call heroic.
Here, in this new series, she gives us two such men in Dante Scorva, the new leader of the Italian crime family, and Ren, head of the Japanese family.
She also gives us Rainn, an eternal optimist who has been working as a high-class escort at a business owned by Dante’s family when their paths cross.
Sparks fly and after an evening’s company together at a restaurant where Dante finds Rainn’s honest nature brings him some peace in the chaos of his life, he offers him a deal.
What follows is the same kind of action and suspense which has become a staple of this author’s work as the tensions rise in Lucifer’s Landing and Dante has to deal with betrayal and a rival determined to take over.
As the stakes grow higher, you find yourself desperately hoping nothing is going to happen to the characters you’ve grown to like, even knowing it will come.
I was still shocked by the ‘hows’ of what goes down and I found myself racing through the book to see what was going to happen.
Davidson keeps the adrenaline flowing right to the end and there are casualties along the way which hurt. I won’t be spoiling the ending but I’m dying for more in the series!
#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.
