Lane delivers a wonderfully grumpy festive romance

The Humbug Holiday coverThe Humbug Holiday by Lane Hayes

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I usually love anything Lane writes but I have to say this one turned out to be a favourite.

There’s not much I love more than a romance between two older MCs who’ve not really been bothered about relationships before, or who’ve been “done dirty” by a previous lover and are wary of anything new.

Here we get a match of both, coupled with each character having to deal with painful memories which occurred around Christmas making them avoid celebrating the season.

I fell for Joe and Cameron big time. Each of them has dealt with a horrible situation by essentially shutting it out and ignoring any kind of celebrating.

Their paths cross when Joe’s hired to do work on Cam’s house and what Lane gives us is two men who are attracted to each other muddling their way into a relationship without realising what’s happening.

It’s incredibly hot, very sweet, highly emotional and has a subtle humour that stops things becoming cloying.

Perfect for a festive romance and while it’s a standalone at this time, I’d love to see more in this setting.
