A highly satisfying return to the mountain
The Soldier and the Bodyguard by R.J. Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
While I received this as part of RJ weekly newsletter serial, I knew I wanted to wait until it was done to read it.
It’s one of the most dramatic narratives in the Ellery Mountain series and has a tie-in to her Sanctuary series too which brought an added bonus.
I loved both JC and Adrian and I felt the former’s brain trauma was handled in a way which made sense.
The suspense element was perhaps a tad out there but not unbelievable as money makes people do horrendous things.
It’s relatively low steam, which is understandable but very emotional and has all the feels.
I loved catching up with both the Ellery crew and the Sanctuary guys.
