Fluke and the gang head to the past and I am here for it!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sam does it again with this fabulous time-travelling instalment of the amazing adventures of Sage, Gideon, Fluke and Freddy.

I absolutely loved this one as the gang heads back into the past to find out more about Freddy’s magic and why it’s suddenly appeared after years of everyone thinking he didn’t have any.

The tension beats come from some really clever moments where what’s happened in the future already have their seeds in the past and I loved how they were woven into the mystery of what was going on in Junction back in the 1800s.

We get to meet Sage and Freddy’s great-great grandmother Winifred McKinley, as well as horrible Great Uncle Jonathon, and the very lovely Uncle Alfie, as well as discovering a bit more about the family history.

This one’s not very steamy at all but, tbh, I never missed the sexy bits for a second, because Sage and Gideon are solid as a rock, even as Sage worries that his former ghostly lover may choose to stay in the past with his wife and child, the love which flows between them is clear as a bell.

We also get a lovely bonus couple of chapters at the end from Fluke’s PoV which shows what happens when he arrived in the past.

The final book is coming and I will be so sad to say goodbye to this world that Sam has created and I have to say, I think this cover from Natasha is the best so far in what have been outstanding interpretations of Sage and Fluke!
