A bit of a mixed bag for this entry in The Game

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book wins an extra point because it references one of my all time favourite songs by one of my all time favourite bands – Nightwish’s Ghost Love Score.

I’m in two minds over the story as a whole though, parts of it worked really well for me, others not so much and the whole narrative really felt a bit disjointed and as if it was rushing to get to the end.

I love the idea of a polycule with different relationship make-ups, so this starts off with a pair who’ve been in a relationship for a while but both also in love with two older men, who themselves have a deep friendship which is occasionally sexual.

The Game element of this book also, for me, didn’t seem to be as clearly focused as in the related novels in the series. It was a bit of a mishmash of different types of kink that just didn’t seem clear as to what the objective was for those involved.

And there’s CLOWNS! Not a good thing 😁

***SPOILER***

There’s also an element of my least favourite kink – watersports – which is more of a sideline in one scene between KC and Noa, and a passing reference from one of the Twins for something which might happen to Shay, but it’s a kink which always tends to turn me off, not on, so I can’t say it thrilled me that much for it be mentioned as part of the exploration.

***ENDS***

Having said the above though, I did enjoy Doll Parts in the main, both Noa and Cameron were cute as a pair, I loved Lucian and KC grew on me as the book went on. Overall though, it didn’t have the same impact for me as both Colt/Lucas/Kit’s books or the Tenley Twins and Shay’s story had.
