This prequel – which is actually best read after all the other Reagalos stories – gives the reader insight into the first meetings between Lornyc and Methian.

I say read it after, rather than before you jump into the series, because if you read it first, a lot of the scenes in the later books won’t have the same impact. It was written after all the other stories and works best in that way.

The series as a whole is very much a Sci-Fi/Fantasy hybrid, but it has a very strong element of romance to it too, which forms the bedrock of all that happens.

We get the start of what’s originally an enemies to lovers vibe as they dislike each other even while acknowledging there is a compelling physical attraction between them before things really take off.

Personally, I loved this peek into what makes both men tick and how they managed to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes for so long with their hidden relationship.
