My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book Three sees things take a turn into unfamiliar ground as Lor suddenly finds his husband missing.

The sense of danger and the idea that there are far bigger plottings going on than either Lornyc or Methian could ever have imagined make their presence felt in more than one direction.

Lornyc discovers secrets long held buried and while he searches for Methian, his husband is also finding out elements in his own family that will change everything.

The pacing in this instalment really kicks up a gear and the narrative explores more about the Valen and the world they occupy.

It becomes clear people have been hiding some revelations that will have far reaching implications for all the cities on the lake.

One thing that doesn’t change though is Lornyc and Methian’s devotion to each other. They come to rely on that even more and realise that petty squabbling will not get them anywhere.

I absolutely love what Rebecca is doing with this series and seeing Lornyc grow into his role is so enjoyable.
