Hailey draws this epic tale to a stunning conclusion
A Veiled & Hallowed Eve by Hailey Turner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I’m bereft. I can’t believe I’ve just read the final book of Patrick and Jono’s epic story.
There will be no spoilers here, only a summation that Hailey works magic with how she weaves the multitude of deities and immortals from so many pantheons together.
I have loved every minute of this journey, my love of mythology having every one of its nerdy desires met by this series.
Patrick and Jono as a pairing couldn’t be more perfect for each other. The prickly mage and his laid back Londoner werewolf bring out all the best parts of each other.
Even when they’re tested almost beyond endurance, their love holds strong, irrespective of the soulbond between them.
My heart was racing from the moment I started reading until the very last page and I had so many different guesses for how the final battle would go.
But nothing prepared me for the reality of this book, nothing!
It brought all the feels, the fears, the hurt, I nearly sobbed, not gonna lie and I raged at the casualness of the gods as they pulled strings and manipulated people like pieces on a chessboard.
A Veiled and Hallowed Eve pulls all the threads which have been so skillfully weaved from book one and wraps them into a conclusion which is almost cathartic.
I won’t forget these books and the amazing world Hailey has created with some of our most enduring and endearing deities and with some of the lesser known ones.
Perhaps all they need is for people to remember…
