A helter-skelter of a rush to the ending makes this one heart-stoppingly good
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Joker’s Sin resident DJ Ledger gets the spotlight turned on him for this latest romantic suspense from Davidson King.
There’s been sparks flying between him and barman Shane through both the other books in this series, so I was going in with lots of expectations.
Most of which were met, I’m pleased to say. And, while I think the villain of the piece is perhaps a bit too obvious from their first appearance, it still didn’t distract from the overall tension waiting for the ‘plot hammer’ to fall, as it were.
There’s still a build up in the pace right up and beyond the usual 75% mark š which I always appreciate.
As the book hurtled towards the last 10% I was wondering just how on earth it was all going to be wrapped up before the book ended! Would Meredith give us a cliffhanger for the first time in this series?!
Well, you’ll be glad to hear that’s not the case and there’s a helter-skelter of heart pounding moments leading up to the epic conclusion.
As for Ledger and Shane, they are ridiculously cute together. They’ve danced around for so long that most of the relationship angst has happened before they ever kiss š
I loved that they both knew the other was different, special, from the off and, while there was an odd hiccup of hesitation on both sides, once they decided they were in, there were no more doubts.
This book also has one of the best pet secondary characters, I’ll leave you to discover all about that special creature on your own!
We get a fab guest appearance here from Riordan too, and I was delighted to see him, no mention of Teddy though, who I adore š«
Now, after the massive involvement of Ciro in this book, he’s got to be getting his own next please Mere?! ā¤
