Aimee hits all the right notes to make this a “perfect” second chance romance
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Aimee Nicole has outdone herself in this one, it’s sheer perfection for a second chance former lovers romance and it’s coupled with a really good suspense plot as a bonus.
Also, the ending/introduction to book three’s love interest for Rocky Jacobs is utterly brilliant and had me howling with laughter once I’d got over the heart-racing fear that our intrepid threesome had landed themselves in a situation they couldn’t escape from.
Felix and Jude are a glorious pair once they reconnect, but it takes some doing to reach that point and I felt so badly for both of them. This isn’t a romance where there’s a clear fault, both men were badly hurt at their split when they were young men at college.
I was rooting for Jude to get Felix to listen to him and to forgive him though from the off. The book is completely from Felix’s POV but you get a real sense of the character of the man who comes back into his life after more than a decade.
At first Felix is prickly and resistant, but as the investigation he’s working on for the Sinister in Savannah podcast with Jonah and Rocky gets ever more dangerous, his feelings towards Jude change when they’re constantly thrown into each other’s path.
Both men have a ways to go, not because Jude was all to blame, but because Felix needs to accept a few painful truths about himself when they were still at college. There’re loads and loads of feels in this book and they come from all over the place!
The suspense part of the plot is very clever, I have to say, I never saw the final twist coming at all! Brilliantly done Aimee!
Now I am absolutely dying to get my hands on book three because I’ve a feeling Aimee is going to blow that one out of the water. The sparks between Rocky and his love interest were off the charts with such a backstory I cannot wait to dive into.
This series has been an absolute triumph, I also really appreciated the guest appearance from Locke and Keye too 😁
