Yet another fabulous romance from Lily Morton

Milo (Finding Home, #2)Milo by Lily Morton

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Each time I think I’ve found my favourite pair of Lily Morton characters she puts out another book and wham, there I go again with a new one.

I loved Dylan and Gabe, then I fell for Asa and Jude, before Henry and Ivo stole my heart, only to give up their spot to Silas and Oz.

But now, let’s just say Milo and Niall took my heart, wrapped it up in bubble wrap and very carefully squished it in tight to their amazing characters.

It’s difficult to summarise why I love Lily Morton’s world so much. Is it because they’re so very British, the settings familiar to me, the language and jokes those of my own childhood and teenage years?

Is it because she has an incredible way of throwing you right into the heart of her books because of the incredibly visual nature of her narratives?

Or is it the snark and the witty retorts which always stop the romances from becoming too twee?

I have no idea. I just know they settle deep into my soul and bring me joy. Nothing would make me happier than spending an evening with this bunch of interconnected characters drinking good beer and eating cockles on the Cornish seafront.

With Niall and Milo, Lily gives us a slightly different take on the brother’s best friend trope and I was only one page into this book when I wanted to kill someone.

Milo is a joy, but he’s been pushed deep inside himself and it takes the solid presence and support of Niall to give him the space to breathe again.

Niall doesn’t take over, much as his strength and forceful personality would like to, instead he cajoles and encourages and reminds Milo of what he can do.

Milo might be a sweetheart, but Niall was just my cup of tea, right down to the ribbing of Oz and the firm friendships with Silas and Milo’s enigmatic brother Gideon.

Speaking of which, I’m saddened to hear he won’t be getting his own rare breeds farmer (you promised me him some time now Lily so I’ll let you off 😉 ) but I absolutely cannot wait to meet the special someone who is going to see behind that brash shiny exterior to the true gold beneath.

This book is gorgeous, it’s stupendously hot of course, but it’s about so much more than the sex. It’s about family, finding a home, and a psychopathic cat who might just love you after all.
