Solid romance from Louisa Keller
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
This is a medium steamy, pretty angsty, second chance romance which hits in lots of places but has a couple of misses for me.
There’s great build up in the first half of the story, laying the groundwork for the powerful connection these two men first establish as teenagers.
It’s a somewhat dramatic narrative as Forrest and Blaise fall in love, reluctantly in Forrest’s case as he is cynical and trusts nobody.
Tensions build up until the defining moment when Blaise gets his heart broken. All of this was a win for me.
The second half is where things stumbled for me. First I think I’d have liked a bit more time after they reconnected, Blaise was perhaps a bit too easy to forgive I think.
Second was when we find out what happened to Forrest and Faye’s parents, which I personally felt was just a bit obvious and did away with a whole plotline without much real consequence.
Overall though, another enjoyable read.
