My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Things got a bit muddled at times in this one and I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to thump Jackson or hug him for a lot of the book but, overall I enjoyed this shifter romance.
Personally, I think there was maybe a bit too much of the different tension elements all fighting with each other to provide the key plot narrative.
Jackson’s repeated insistence that he wasn’t gay did get a tad too much, even while he was clearly falling for Leo, but I did like them much better as a pair when they made a go of it properly.
The world building was good though, with the parallels between shifters being second class citizens and a lot of what’s happening in the “real world” and that worked well for me.
It’s relatively low steam but there’s a couple of first-time sex screens which raised the temperature somewhat!
I would be interested to read more in this world, Mitch’s story especially.
