Promising start to a new series from DJ Jamison
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is a promising start to a new series from DJ Jamison which is focused on a small Kansas town and includes a bit of a suspense and mystery element to the romance.
It took me a while to warm up to the MCs though as there was a bit of separation in the narrative to set up the plot and during that part, neither Reid nor Camden were particularly endearing.
However, once Reid and his witness arrived in Camden’s hometown the pace picked up and the attraction between the two men started to shine.
There was a secondary plot going on surrounding the house Reid had inherited and, tbh, I actually found that one more enthralling than the main one which centred on keeping Huy/Lee safe until he could give evidence at his trial.
I’m guessing he and Camden’s best friend Miguel will be up next in book two as there did seem to be a spark there.
Everything comes to a head with a bang and the fall out from that was perhaps over a wee bit quickly but I loved the Epilogue and the book as a whole was a great read.
