My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I loved this one even more than I’d enjoyed book one in the series. For me, the push/pull between Gabe and Nate had a frison to it which was slowly amped up as the narrative expanded.
Gabe had caught my attention in Book One so I was really pleased to get his story now and it was a lot more complicated than his outward surface revealed. Deep inside, Gabe was desperate to find someone to love and for someone to want to love him in return.
In Nate he picked – under some duress from the other man at first – his perfect partner. Nate was a grumpy git, quick to fly off the handle and judgemental, treating Gabe poorly because he reminded him of someone who’d hurt him badly in the past.
Thankfully Nate didn’t stay stubborn for long as he gradually realised that Gabe was a truly special person and nothing like the shallow man he’d first thought. I love that the book cover reflects the scene where Nate finally got his act in gear, leading to a truly delicious snog against a tree!
While I enjoyed Brody and Owen’s story in Book One, this just resonated more with me and I was firmly rooting for both men! Now I’m desperate for Jonah and Cameron’s story which will be in Book Three and hopefully not too far away!
