My rating: 4 of 5 stars
3.5* I believe this was Felice’s first published MM romance and it has all the bones of what has subsequently made her one of my favourite authors.
There’s some really sweet moments in this one but the plotting is also occasionally a bit shaky as time jumps take place without clear indication that it’s a while later. These are smoothed out as the plot develops though.
Both Ryder and Jason felt like they had their own unique voices, together their relationship felt real and believable.
But there were also a couple of cliche elements too, Ryder’s mother was a bit stereotyped, Liam came round pretty quickly from his initial homophobia and it felt a bit off that a powerful lawyer as Ryder’s dad was portrayed would fall for his wife’s manipulation so easily.
Still, they’re all minor points and didn’t stop me enjoying the romance.
